Texas Should Increase Its Minimum Wage
Minimum wage in the state of Texas starts off at $7.25 per hour for the working employee. People say that the amount of minimum wage is below the living wage; meaning $7.25 an hour isn’t enough money for the average person to meet the living necessities. The basic needs for us humans to survive are food, water, and shelter. Minimum wage won’t and can’t cover those needs.
Texas workers that get paid minimum wage are outraged about how they can’t afford a car, a home, and other things because of how little they are paid. Workers that get paid very little have to struggle to get the things they need. Some people work two or more jobs just to pay rent or catch up on payments they are behind on. $10 period is a perfect amount for someone to live off of and get the necessities they need to survive. Everyone enjoys having money, not struggling. Homes get foreclosed, cars are towed, and lives are ruined because people get fired from their jobs and are forced to move down to a minimum wage job. If minimum wage were raised, people wouldn’t be suffering as badly.

By law, they are getting paid the correct minimum wage amount, but very underpaid in the basic human needs life. They aren’t being paid enough in their eyes, but in Texas, they’re being paid the perfect underpayment. Of course, there is going to be controversy everywhere, whether we should raise or keep it the same. For some, it’s fair. It’s the perfect amount for the people in the minimum wage position, but for the minimum wage workers, whom, in fact, work very hard for the families they have to support, it’s very little and they have to work extra hard to earn more money.
