Presidents day is not only a day of no school and savings it is also a day to reflect on the leaders of our nation throughout its history. This brings to light the question "Who have been the greatest presidents of the U.S.?". When I reflected on this I came to the realization that there is no correct answer. There have been many great presidents in their own right from Washington our first president, the setter of many precedents, the one who every presidents strives to be like.To Lincoln our 16th president the one who saw the division of the nation and then brought it back together and to many the great liberator of the slaves. And now in my mind I've decided to speak of Ronald Reagan our 40th president and the "Great Communicator".Ronald Reagan was one …show more content…
According to humans events the misery index was at 19.99%. However thanks to his economic programs and innovations, at the end of his presidency it dropped to 9.72% (human events). many people today claim that Reagan was racist and that his economic programs disadvantaged the poor which were a majority Black and Latino. However, during Reagan presidency 16 million new jobs were created (human events). These and many more accomplishments are what made Reagan one of the best presidents economically.
Reagan was president during a time of doubt and uncertainty. During his presidency he saw the most of the cold war and a rise of international terrorism. Reagan adopted a "Peace Through Strength" philosophy. Reagan increased defense spending by 40% during his presidency and human events concluded that the free-flow of oil during the Iran-Iraq war was due to his support of Naval protection, during which he also suppressed communist movements in Asia, America, and Africa with the Reagan Doctrine (Hugh and Sidney). These and his contributions to peaceful agreements with soviet leader Mikhail
Throughout our country's history, we’ve come a long way from the first president to our current president. Obama was the best president we've had in the past 10 years, because he changed many things that needed to be changed and he always looked at world as a whole. If I were to agree on who is the best president i would say Barack Obama.
The first five presidents of the United States impacted the United States greatly and their names were George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe. The president I think that impacted the U.S the most was George Washington who was in office for eight years (1789-1797). George Washington who was the commander in chief and led the army in the Revolutionary War and gained freedom from Great Britain at that time there was thirteen colonies in the United States. In 1783 George Washington signed a peace treaty with Great Britain. John Adams which was the second president to be elected who was vice president at first for eight years (1789-1796) soon became president for four years (1797-1801). John Adams strengthened the central government by making the army stronger and he signed a law which is called the “Act for the Sick” which let government marine hospital service. Thomas Jefferson which was the third president was one of the more important presidents for the United States, he was one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence and he also organized the Louisiana Purchase which doubled the country known as the United States. James Madison Jr. known as the fourth president promoted the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. James Monroe which was the fifth president of the United States who was in office for eight years (1817-1825) and was the last president that was in the Virginia Dynasty and the Republican Generation.
Ronald Reagan, President of the United States from 1981 through 1989, created economic policies throughout his presidency that aimed to pull the United States out of a recession. His policies, called Reaganomics, reduced government spending and reduced tax rates in order to foster economic growth. Reagan also appointed many conservative judges to the Supreme Court and federal courts in order to shift ideologies to the right. Because of this, Reagan was both underrated and overrated as a president.
Who was the greatest president of the United States? There have been many great presidents in the history of the U.S. Many presidents have led our country through very trying times. Some people believe Lincoln was the greatest president. However, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt led our country at times when a great leader was needed. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the greatest president of the United States because of his New Deal, his great leadership skills, and his strong and deep connection to the people of the United States.
"The task of the leader is to get his people from where they are to where they have not been” (Henry). This quote from Henry Kissinger is a representation of the Kennedy term in office. President Kennedy took the world to a whole new level; he succeeded in many tasks in his short time as president. John F. Kennedy was great president because of his involvements in the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Space Race, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Peace Corps.
Both Roosevelt and Reagan dealt with major events involving foreign affairs. During Reagans two terms he increased defense spending 35 percent, but sought to improve relations with the Soviet Union. He attended meetings with Soviet
When presenting the question of who deserves the title of best President of the United States, one would not be surprised to find Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, and FDR as the frontrunners. While each of these presidents was undisputedly successful and groundbreaking in their own right, all fall short to America’s first modern president- Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt, assuming office at the turn of the century, redefined and reimagined the role of the president and the executive officialdom. By expanding the powers of the presidency, Roosevelt was able to move the country forward in both the international arena and on the home front. Roosevelt’s vast success can greatly be attributed to his charisma, character, and persuasion skills. He understood that the art of governing was truly the power to persuade, and he mastered the trade. Roosevelt not only improved life domestically as he fought against inequality and corrupt business practices, but he also achieved his goal of gaining influence abroad, thus earning the United States a powerful platform on the global stage. Roosevelt’s natural leadership, charm, bravery, and compassion combined with his thorough understanding of the country’s needs, both for the individual and for the long-term well being of the country, made him the most successful president in United States history.
Each and every president of the United States of America left behind a legacy for everybody to look back at and learn from ,some of them were more notice able than others .Who do you believe was the best President of American? Well ,I believe that the 40th president ,Ronald Reagan, was the best of all . Now you might ask why I choose Reagan .I choose him because he was kind, understanding and had a personality that nobody could resist. He also had a lot of nicknames that people gave him such as, Ronald the Right , the Jelly Bean Man ,and the Great Communicator .
Ronald Reagan, the fortieth president of the United States of America, was arguably the best president the United States has ever had. Raised in rural Illinois, Reagan grew up as country boy, and kept his ideals and faith through his presidency. Reagan never faltered when he dealt with communism, dealt with a slipping economy, or in any other foreign affairs. His strong convictions led him to being one of the greatest presidents in the history of the United States. (Thomas, 22)
Perhaps Reagan's most controversial cause was his foreign policy. He wanted to prevent communist expansion and helped countries free themselves of it and believed the nation should negotiate with the Soviet Union. On Washington Summit in December of
Theodore Roosevelt was one of our greatest presidents. He created the FDA and improved the position of the presidency greatly. Before Theodore came to be president, the position of presidency was slow and wasn’t very interesting so he made the executive branch more powerful by starting new reforms and a strong foreign policy. The life of a president is hard. It is full of stress, responsibilities, and a strong dedication the welfare of your country. Theodore had to deal with all of these presidential stresses, taking up much of his time. Do you know, though, that despite being a president, he led a life of excitement and freedom that many other presidents had never before experienced? Theodore, “Teddy” as his first wife Alice called him,
In the minds of many Americans Ronald Reagan is the president that ended the Cold War, but is this view accurate? They claim Reagan's unprecedented military spending forced the Soviets to crumble. However, many critics of the president's outspending theory claim that the Russian economy would have imploded without such spending, and a military buildup of that kind did nothing but delay peace. Although, Reagan's willingness to negotiate was a clear factor in ending the Cold War, his aggressive arms race may have done more to forestall peace than abet it. The ascendance of Mikhail Gorbachev to power, the stagnating economy of Russia, and the personal friendship forged between Gorbachev and Reagan were the clear factors that contributed to
The president of the United States is arguably the toughest job you can hold as an American. It takes a lot to be a good president and a great deal more to be the best. Personally i believe the best president in history was #42. Bill Clinton was the only president in our long history to have our country's debt down to zero. Sure he had his short comings, but he was still the best at being the president. Now there is more things that make him the greatest like, having the greatest economic expansion in history. What he did was opened our trades to foreign markets and invested in the people of the U.S to help create 115 consecutive months of growth. Because of this our economy has grown at an average 4 percent since 1993. The next could be him
Throughout our nation's history it has endured 43 presidents, some of them have been remembered as great men who served our country well and made it a better place. Others are more well known for the scandals they caused and others are hardly remembered at all. Despite the amount of presidents that we have had there has never been a president who stands out as the best president ever. Although there are two presidents from the post world war 2 era, each from two separate parties that I believed both had some of the skills to be the best president ever.
What defines a great President and what do we mean when we say someone is “the greatest”?
