The novel The Kite Runner was written by Khaled Hosseini. This novel is about a man revisiting his past. So far, I am really enjoying this novel. I like this novel for several reasons. These reasons are the complex characters and their lives, the writing style, and the setting. To begin, I like this novel because of the complex characters and their lives. Each character is so different from the others. The characters in this novel are also very realistic. I like how Hosseini puts faults with each character. These faults help us as the readers to feel as if we are living their lives with them. Amir is the main character but he has many faults. One of which is his jealousy and anger. To me, it is fascinating to learn about another culture or way of life. I don’t know a lot about Afghanistan or the culture of the afghans. I am very intrigued to read and learn more about this country and the time period taking place in this novel. I also found it interesting to experience the downfall of the country. When I think of Afghanistan I don’t picture a nice neighborhood where families have servants. I picture a place shattered and torn apart by war and devastation. As I read the beginning of the novel where the two boys are innocent and young, I felt like this could be anywhere in the world. I have never known Afghanistan to be so peaceful, so in a way it’s as if I am experiencing the downfall with the characters.
Overall, I am really enjoying this novel The Kite Runner. This novel was written by Khaled Hosseini and it’s about a man revisiting his past.
