This incident triggered massive riots in Los Angeles areas. Tupac was aware of the violence and saw no change from decades ago; racism was alive and thrived in the streets of America.

Throughout the song, Tupac gives an inside look on the social problems affecting African-Americans and suggests possible solutions. In the first stanza of the song, Tupac first talks about how certain social issues are linked together; he makes a correlation between his skin color and being poor. Tupac says “I'm tired of bein' poor and even worse I'm black.” Then he explains how poverty causes crime by saying “My stomach hurts, so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch.” And finally, he demonstrates the relationship between police brutality and race by saying “Cops give a damn about a negro? Pull the trigger, kill a nigga, he's a hero.”

A shot that made headlines was one to be remembered. The Shot Heard 'Round the World was regarded as a truly important event in history. It was the start of the Battle of Lexington which was the first official battle of the Revolutionary War.

As an artist he spoke a lot of violence and how to be aware of the society that everyone is exposed to. He spoke to the youth and was actively involved in the group the Black Panther which emphasizes equity and black power. Tupac music had meaning and emotion behind it that most struggling people in the urban community could connect to which made his so popular because people could relate. To gaze into the lyrics of both Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur is like living in the ghettos of New York City where violence never stops. Both of these artists grew up seeing and living a life filled with violence. Gunshots and drive-byes, death and murder were a daily occurrence. Although the lyrics of both artists are simply telling their life stories and how hard it was to grow up in their “hoods” they contain vulgar, hateful, and sexual verses that send the wrong message to their listeners. The Black Panthers were an organization during the late 1960’s to fight for African American rights. Tupac grew up in an infrastructure where he had to struggle and battle for his rights growing up during the decades of the seventies and eighties because of the color of his skin. With tension and anger building inside of him, he used poetry to express his frustrations and immediately found his outlet. His outspoken charisma brought him attention from millions of people relating to the similar situation Tupac was going through, and eventually he used his poetry and pursue a career in Hip-Hop. Theorists believe the affair gave Wallace the motive to kill Tupac for this betrayal. The Controversial Life of Tupac Shakur Despite his reputation as a criminal and a thug, Tupac Shakur effectively spread his message of the unfairness in society through his storytelling, music, and public stance to increase awareness of discrimination against African Americans. Tupac Amaru Shakur came into the world on June 16, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York. While poverty stricken,Tupac faced many obstacles as a child and an adolescent. All his life, Shakur used issues in his family as an underlying conflict and expressed these issues while growing up.

Tupac Shakur’s death was an event everyone mourned and questioned. This hip-pop legend was taken so suddenly and mysteriously. No one exactly knows why this rap genius was taken from us and it is still yet to be figured out today. What made this shooting so different from others? Why couldn’t we solve it? These questions still race through people’s minds and always will.

When most people hear the name Tupac, they think of a tattooed thug, a gangsta rapper killed in a tragic shooting who only got what was coming to him, a man who lived by the gun, and who died by the gun. However, those people probably have never taken a chance to look beyond what their eyes tell them, past the ignorance and into the depths of the man who really was Tupac.

Boom, boom! Boom, boom! The kind of bass that drains batteries and the kind of lyrics that unload clips, these are the sounds that rap music produces. I chose this topic because I am extremely interested in rap music and I want to explore the violent aspect of the industry. I have never had a chance to look at the violent side of it and I plan to find answers to questions I have in my search. Tupac Shakur is one of my favorite artists and when he was shot and killed I really started to take notice of the violence. People were getting killed because of an image that was being set. What I really want to know, however, is why rappers feel compelled to graphically describe the violence.
