To UCLA Admissions Office, After giving much thought to what I wanted to do in the future, I found University of California at Los Angeles to be an excellent stepping stone for my aspiration as a computer scientist. I’ve come to a decision to apply to UCLA because I wanted to follow in my brother’s footsteps as a computer scientist, and give back to my online community that helped me grow as a person. With the encouragement from my brother supporting me behind my back, I strongly believe that UCLA will widen my horizon and hope to have a glimpse of what my brother had experienced when he took his first step into the campus. Eventually, playing games had become a significant chapter of my life, that enabled me to build up the confidence I was missing. I was able to establish online friends that had similar interest in gaming and manage to extend my favorite pastime into a small knitted community.. It was the first seed that would later sprout into my restored self-esteem. The more I played games, the more I felt like I had a sense of belonging in the gaming community. I felt happier than ever, and felt myself growing as a person before leading to a deeper question of what I wanted to become in the future to give back to the community that had raised me. After a bit of research, my brother introduced me to computer science, explaining how I had the possibility to use my future skills to grow the ever expanding gaming community.
When I entered high school, I decided to tread onto the road as a computer scientist, but knew I needed to polish confidence and the ability to communicate with others. They were necessary for any computer scientist due to its demanding projects that require strong team building. I decided to tackle it by volunteering at the Rosemead Library and became a homework helper for young kids ages 5-10. I found it to be a splendid place to practice socializing with kids because they were harder to converse than grown adults. My time as a homework helper, allowed me to control my patience, and
