Youtube’s Notification Glitch and their Notification Bell Feature
One of the major more recent changes to Youtube was the addition of the notification bell next to the subscribe button on Youtube. This feature allows the subscriber to receive notifications of new videos and updates made to whatever channel the viewer subscribes to. To activate this feature you first subscribe to the channel and then press the button with the bell icon on it to start to receive notifications from the channel8.
On Feburary 7th 2017 an article was release addressing a subscription glitch where the viewer subscribes to a Youtube channel and after pressing the red subscribe button, it turns white/grey showing that the viewer has subscribed to the

The article continues by explaining that this is because “YouTube’s current setup does not favor elevating subscriptions, but seems to instead elevate promoted videos, videos rising in popularity (but without any link to the user – e.g. not from known, subscribed channels), and advertisement videos” 5.
This glitch has cause several content creators, especially small creators, the disappearance of subscribers with a number of Youtubers saying that it seems like they lose subscribers with every video they upload. A lot of Youtubers, big and small, have complained this about this as well as the notification system Youtube has been using for years. Youtuber Jim Sterling commented on the notification glitch saying that “YouTube’s notification system for subscribers can be utterly awful, and as with many problems YouTube has, fixing it isn’t a priority whatsoever”. Other Youtubers like JackSepticEye, a gaming Youtuber, mentions that Youtube makes changes to their site and by not letting their content creators become aware of these changes is a “shitty thing to do”. While on the other hand, Youtube still says that there’s no glitch at all. A Youtube spokesman in an article named Top YouTubers Say They're Being Screwed Yet Again By The Platform responded back to Cecilia D'Anastasio, the writer of the article, after she reached out and emailed them for explanation about what Youtubers are
The main reason for the use of YouTube is that you are able to use videos which are more visually appealing rather than reading and therefore is all in front of your eyes, making it much easy to see for entertainment purposes, business advertisements and many more.
Tubefilter: How does it feel to have more than one million subscribers on YouTube? What do you have to say to your fans?
Tyler Blevins, or known on social media as Ninja, has grown a lot in the past months after the game fortnite has come up. He has gained many subscribers, followers, and fans just by playing the game he loves(Tassi, Paul). As Tassi was explaining how big and how popular Ninja has become, he stated: “We may however be seeing a peak in terms of his subscriber count.” (Tassi, Paul). This is because he has gained 2 million followers, and 100,000 subscribers in just a little over a month or so (Tassi, Paul). The way he he has gotten so many people to subscribe is because he reminds people of linking their Amazon Prime accounts with their Twitch Prime accounts to subscribe to 1 person per month. Tassi was talking about Ninja’s subscriber count
Since the introduction of YouTube almost 10 years ago, the site has grow well past a simple website that comes and goes with trends. YouTube has now become a major player in entertainment media. It now attracts thousands of advertisers and business’ in attempt to grab the attention of the growing Internet audience. The difference between television productions and YouTube productions is who is on the other end of the camera. The creator, actor, editor, and marketing person are all in one individual. An array of people are now taking their career’s into their own hands and attracting their own audiences. These people now find themselves in a new era of media in which everyone including their income is coming to them from comfort of their homes. In my paper, I plan to discuss how the internet has created a new form of fame that as well gives those who are famous an income, and career that could last long past their three minute video post.

At this point, stories about video streaming services attempting to steal money and viewership from Youtube feel older than Youtube itself. Challengers have come and gone, but very few streaming services have managed to stick around and find success, and none of them have become the top streaming service. Google gave up and just bought Youtube instead. But with streaming becoming the primary mode of watching content now, companies still have to try their hand at it, and now Comcast is throwing their hat into the ring. The new Comcast video streaming service will be called Watchable, and even if it's not the future of streaming, it looks as though Comcast video streaming could very well be the future of Comcast.
Google and YouTube followed Maker’s lead and ended their partnership with Kjellberg shortly after, including canceling his Maker funded YouTube Red series Scare PewDiePie. In addition to this, YouTube removed the Pewdiepie channel from Google Preferred, family-friendly advertising (The Hollywood Reporter, 2017).
The award they receive is a Play Button. The silver Play Button is received when someone gets to 100,000 subscribers, the gold Play Button for one million subscribers, and the diamond Play Button for ten million subscribers. The diamond Play Button is a fairly new addition to the YouTuber Creator Rewards program, and Markiplier received the button on June 20, 2016. Mark has also hit many subscriber milestones such as five million subscribers on December 25, 2014, six million subscribers on February 15, 2015, ten million on October 15, 2015, and 14 million on August 8,
YouTube uses a similar model as television, advertisements, but in a completely different form. Creators on YouTube are payed based on views, as the more people watch the content the more advertisers are interested in investing, but this model is fluctuating and unreliable. To build a more sustainable model, many creators turn to alternative forms of revenue. Philip DeFranco, for example, has built a business model on selling merchandise, acquiring his own sponsors and working with a larger multimedia company, Discovery Network. Therefore, in a sense new media is still very much financially reliant on old-media. Television shows such as The Rachel Maddow Show has more stability, with advertisers trusting the reliability of
At the dawn of the Youtube era, there was no way of telling how popular the site would become. One thousand hits seemed to be huge in the beginning, then the numbers just kept on growing. Soon, there were videos that became a viral video or garnered over one million hits. Those people became known as Youtube royalty, but what happened to them when their newness rubbed off? We are here to tell you!
Let me bring you guys to the beginning of The JUICEGOD’ s career... So it all started February of 2019. I was bored in the house on FaceTime with my best friend Miranda, I was being funny because that’s just my personality and then we started talking about the possibilities and how starting a channel could open a lot of doors for me. There have been multiple people who have gone from being poor and homeless to being multi-millionaires because of the platform called “YouTube”. On February 17th, I published my first ever video and that day I surpassed 20,744 views in one week and from

It will relate whatever I'm watching to the ad that it gives me. Sometimes it bases it off of what videos I've watched before. My brother watches videos on my profile sometimes and that messes with the ads that it shows. YouTube is pretty close to with its ads that it gives me and matches up with my identity.

YouTube’s business model is unique in that the site itself does not create any content. Instead the website provides a location for content creators to post content and for ccontent onsumers to view content. Accounts on the website are free so any user can sign up, upload content and interact in the YouTube community. This brings in the question: How is YouTube making enough money to operate? The main answer is by monetizing the content on their site. According to Merriam-Webster.com, monetize means to “utilize something of value to make a profit”. YouTube used their loyal audiences to sell advertising space to other companies, allowing advertisements to be played before content.
