I am applying to the Molecular Plant Science Doctorate program at Washington State University to continue my education and research. After four years of preparing, I am ready to take this next time and begin work on my doctorate. I can say confidently that I have the tools and the determination to excel in such a stimulating and challenging environment.
I received my Bachelor’s of Science from Washington State University in May 2017. During my undergraduate degree, I had the opportunity to do a summer internship in a research lab under the instructions of Dr. Andrei Smertenko, Ph.D. During the internship, I learned of the sizable amount of work those goes into a research project and ultimately a paper. I spent time researching the

One of those reasons is that I am interested in continuing developing cellular phenotyping technique using peroxisome abundance for drought tolerance. I have a unique situation where I can collaborate within multiple departments at WSU to fully understand how abiotic stresses affect the plant on molecular and cellular levels. During the last year, I have been working as a research intern for Dr. Andrei Smertenko, Ph.D., to understand and correlate multiple plant responses to drought with the peroxisomes response. I am working with phenomics and chlorophyll fluorescence to understand the photosynthetic tolerance responses and on a project where images of roots are analyzed to understand root architecture in response to drought. The more time I spend researching, the more I understand the complexity of plants and plant responses.
Washington State University provided me a home and a place to push myself over the last four years. My BS in integrated plants sciences focused on the breeding, farming, and agriculture while also highlighting genetic and molecular biology. During my undergraduate degree, many of my upper level biology classes focused on animal and human biology with little mention of plants. I wanted to have the opportunity to take more plant focused upper-level classes and I know that pursing a Doctorate degree at WSU would give me the opportunity to take these classes and
Being in this group project has not only opened my eyes about the different careers in Agriculture but it has also expanded my knowledge specifically in plant science.
“I got up and pretended to study the pictures on the walls like I was a lover of religious art. When I got to the Merciful Mother right above Sinita’s head, I reached in my pocket and pulled out the bottom I’d found on the train. It was sparkly like a diamond and had a little hole in back so you could thread a ribbon through it and wear it like a romantic lady’s choker necklace. It wasn’t something I’d do, but I could see the button would make a good trade with someone inclined in that direction.
Sally Dingo the author of Ernie Dingo the King of the Kids, positions us as we read through the book for us to feel almost we had known him all through his life, and that we are like mates toward him. we may feel sympathy for one of their beloved family member dies or admiration for Ernie’s sporting talents in basketball, he was usually called ‘show pony’.
Through interning, I hope to gain an understanding of how the intersections between molecular biology, plant research, and human welfare are exploited to develop new medicines while simultaneously addressing issues of environmentalism. My goal is to be enabled to continue autonomously in the BTI’s efforts, all the while being inspired to work alongside this intersection of my greatest interests as a lifelong commitment. The internship is especially important since my program of undergraduate studies has left little room for work that integrates the totality of my interests. Moreover, I anticipate that my experiences will elucidate similarities and differences in the application of the scientific method at the BTI and at the University of Rochester (where I worked as a 2014 summer DeKiewiet fellow) so that I may develop a personalized approach to research.
According to Henderson, “Historians of the new imperialism have tended to ignore the parallel histories of empire in nineteenth-century British North America”. He argues that in recent years, an increasing number of corresponding and connective histories have had the desire to locate early Canada as one site of an empire among others. He stresses how republicanism and a responsible government rely almost exclusively on published archival materials that have been used for a very long period (at least in Canada) by those who are interested in the history of the struggle for a responsible government.
Knowing my career goal would require obtaining a doctorates degree, I completed my undergraduate career with the challenges of graduate school in mind. I took extra steps outside of the classroom such as studying abroad in Kenya. In 2015 I took the Primatology, Wildlife Ecology, and Conservation
Successful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island pedagogy requires efficient context knowledge as well as the knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students learning needs. The topics covered will include Indigenous placement and displacement, the impact of socio-economic status on Indigenous students and the health and wellness of Indigenous students with the focus being on whole school and classroom practices, with examples of resources, to support teaching Indigenous students.
I began my undergraduate education with the aim of pursuing a career as a physician. However, after exposure to laboratory research and the discovery of my passion for teaching, I have now been considering obtaining an MD/PhD. I would like to help patients not only as a compassionate physician but also by conducting research that will open doors to health issues faced by many around the world. My interest in obtaining research experience at UT Southwestern is twofold: it will give me an opportunity to conduct full-time biological research and resolve my interest in pursuing a career as a physician-scientist.
During the Cold War, the United States increasingly felt the need to protect the Western hemisphere from the supposedly evil Soviet sphere of influence. The conflicting ideologies between the capitalist United States and the socialist Soviet Union served as a reason for the United States to intervene in Chilean politics. In the 1960s and 1970s, the United States CIA moved and coordinated campaigns against the spread of communism. Following Domino Theory, where a falling domino causes an entire row of dominoes to fall, the general belief was that if one country fell to communism, the neighboring countries surrounding it would also adopt a communist ideology. Fearful of a Marxist regime, the CIA sought to keep the popular Salvador Allende
In the fall of 2013, I began my first year at Carl Sandburg College (CSC), as a TRIO student and a continuing Gale Scholar, where I continued to achieve academic success. This year, I met two of my goals. The first one was gaining my Associate in Science
Through this experience, I was able to work alongside other technicians to perform microbiological tests such as bacterial culture, take water samples from various stages of the water purification process, meticulously record data, and maintain quality control. Not only did this internship further inspire me to enter the field of Bioscience Technology, it also taught me a great deal of laboratory skills including media preparation, safety, and data keeping that will allow me to thrive in the
The following morning at school individuals are as yet humming about the puzzle young lady with Joey while Mary tunes in. At that point as the declarations gone ahead Joey is then on the declarations. He guarantees the previous evening was one of the greatest evenings of his life and that he needs to discover the secret young lady. He at that point expresses that on the off chance that you are the puzzle young lady disclose to me the main four most played melodies on the zune. Mary is in stun. At lunch young ladies are holding up in line yet none of them are the one clearly and Joey begins to get demoralized. Mary and Tami are on the stairs viewing and Tami tries to persuade Mary to reveal to Joey its her. Mary at that point states about
