“Levantate!” I groggily got out of bed and looked at the clock on my nightstand 7:15 am. “Wonderfull,” I thought “he woke me up early”. My father isn't someone who likes to be late he is a very punctual person. I on the other hand always preferred to wait until the last minute. So why did I have to get up at this ungodly hour during summer vacation on my day off work? I had to pick up my cousin who was going to live with us. Her parents believed that it would be best for her to study here in the Evergreen state and my parents agreed. So that is how I found myself at the airport at 8:40 am waiting for my flight looking at “Primitive Technology” on youtube. Some people don't like the hassle of flying. I don't mind it but I can see why …show more content…
Well now to find my seat I mumble to no one in particular. Well, hopefully, I don't get a bad seat. I'm not asking to sit next to people who will become my friends until the day I die but I don't want have someone who blasts his music(Spoiler alert I didn't although it would have been better). As I walk I look at the letters to find my seat B, C, D, E... G there's my seat. Now to see who my seatmates are. The pair was already sat down when I got there. It was two Asian men one in his sixties and the other looked like he was in his late thirties. They were talking about something in another tongue in hushed tones. Maybe this won't be so bad I thought at least they are quiet. And it wasn't at least for the first part of the flight. The older man's mannerisms reminded me of my friend's grandfather. He seemed jovial when he spoke. He talked quietly. Once in awhile, he would chuckle softly in response to what the man next to him said. I eventually relaxed enough to take a nap. I woke up slightly before the cart containing complimentary drinks came. The attendant said, “Excuse me would any of you like anything to drink?” Noticing the turbulence I said “no” for fear that the drink might spill. She preceded to ask the old man next to and his son they both said yes and they both received their drinks. The old man was putting his drink down when a sudden bit of turbulence made him spill his drink over the tiny little table and onto both his lap and my left leg. To my surprise,
“I got up and pretended to study the pictures on the walls like I was a lover of religious art. When I got to the Merciful Mother right above Sinita’s head, I reached in my pocket and pulled out the bottom I’d found on the train. It was sparkly like a diamond and had a little hole in back so you could thread a ribbon through it and wear it like a romantic lady’s choker necklace. It wasn’t something I’d do, but I could see the button would make a good trade with someone inclined in that direction.
To tackle the housing affordability, first of all, it is crucial to lift the supply of housing as it will release the pressure on the housing price. Nevertheless, the supply of housing is inelastic as it requires an adequate fund, time, approval from the Government. Besides, the housing system is heavily dependent on the private sector. Thus, the Government should provide initiatives for housing providers to shift the supply of houses in the market. Australia would follow the policies from other countries to tackle the housing affordability. However, it has to fit in the Australian context. These policies might work well in other places but it does not mean that it will be applicable in Australia. The Singapore Government has a public
Bonnie Green, Chief Estimator, agreed that in a normal year only slight delays might develop due to a shortage of labor. However, she pointed out that for such a large project, the company would have to use unionized employees and that the construction industry labor agreements with New York City were to expire on October 30, 2004. Past experience and current construction activity in the surrounding area indicated that any union tradesman would support a strike against the city. Since this is a public project, she estimates that there is a 50% chance that they would strike this project to gain the attention of the national media.
While reading the story "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker, I found that I had a surprising amount of anger towards the character named Dee, or as she prefers Wangero. The anger that was instilled in me was caused by numerous comments and actions that occurred throughout reading the short story. I feel she was selfish, uneducated and unappreciative of her past and that the way she carried herself was ridiculous. Right from the beginning of my readings you are introduced to a character named Dee, before you ever get the opportunity to warm up to her character, she shows a very selfish characteristic and that trait is repeatedly brought out in the
It was a dark and stormy night- except it wasn’t. It was actually a crisp, clear January morning. January 14, 2011 to be exact. It was the first time I had ever been outside the United States, and I was on a 13 hour nonstop flight to Israel. Even though I had been in an airplane before, this was a totally different experience. We were not allowed to get up, unless we were on the way to the bathroom, we were served dinner which was… interesting to say the least and thankfully, I didn’t get food poisoning (until the flight back to the U.S.). We also had in-flight TV, which was awesome because it had a plethora of new movies that I had never seen before! After the long flight I was extremely happy to be able to walk around, however we didn’t do
Tutankhamun (Tutankhamen) was born in Egypt in 1341 B.C. In 1323 B.C. Tutankhamun died of an unknown death; he was only 17 or 18 years old. Before he died he got to live a short time as a ruler. After his body was exhumed, there have been signs that Tutankhamus could have been murdered, or died from an infection from an injury. “Historians generally agree that he was the twelfth ruler of the 18th Egyptian Dynasty, who assumed the throne when he was eight or nine years old. Before puberty he was married to his half-sister (or, possibly, niece) Ankhesenamen, daughter of Queen Nefertiti. He reigned until his death in his late teens. Some studies of his remains suggest that he was
It was a cold December night, the trees were rustling and the snow was falling. The Salekins were ready to leave to the airport. The older siblings were arguing the young kids couldn’t find their stuff. Then all of a sudden the hour hand struck eight and everybody rushed to the car like the scene from Home Alone. We were suppose to leave at 7:30p.m because the airport was one hour away and our flight was at 9:00p.m.
Throughout my undergraduate and graduate career, I have obtained a variety of experiences to satisfy my curiosity in finance. Not only have I received a bachelor’s degree in Financial Economics and Accounting from Caldwell University and a master’s degree in Finance from Villanova University, I have also independently studied for and passed the CFA Level I exam. Moreover, I have worked as a Research Assistant, and on my research project on the effects of earnings revisions and earnings surprises on stock returns. Furthermore, I have worked as an Accounting Intern at MoMA and as a Financial Analyst Intern at ADP. Currently, I work for Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU) as a Credit Risk Analyst. This amalgamation of experiences has
After the physical fitness exam, Shannon led them over to the obstacle course Maggie had been eyeing earlier. From first glance, it seemed just like any other course that she’d ever come across which wasn’t very many but still they all appeared to have the same basic layout. This one had four or five obstacles of varying difficulty and was surrounded by a foam cube pit. The pit was probably put in place to prevent cadets from injuring themselves in an accident. Their captain demonstrated how to go through the course and instructed them on the best ways to approach each challenge. This gave the trio of new operatives a glimpse of Shannon’s abilities. There was a natural grace and ease in his movements not many people possessed. His long,
I couldn’t find a charger in my bag, so I put away my iPod and sighed. My mom suddenly got a message that our airplane was delayed 2 hours. Of course I was angry and homesick a little. But there was nothing I could do. So I waited. And waited. And waited.
My team in Gaza were especially fond of one brand of Israeli honey cookies. We gorged whenever we spotted them, a Hebrew label among the Arabic. I dawdled over that label one morning, imagining Hebron settlers sipping coffee with Gaza strawberries.
My back was sore from waiting in the stiff airport chair. I sat there gazing at all the travelers moseying their way to a seat or hurrying to their gate. Just a few hours ago, I was at school, eating lunch with my fifth-grade class. Then all of a sudden, my mom was there saying I had an appointment she had forgot about. We shuffled across the tile floor to the office. I studied the orange fish in the tank by the secretary's desk, waiting for my sister. When she arrived, my mom took out her phone and held it up like she was going to take a picture. I raised an eyebrow in confusion. My mom handed us each a tiny envelope with a list of things we needed to pack. My confusion quickly transformed into delight when I read the bottom of the page. It said that we were leaving for New York City that evening!
The first article talks about how the United Kingdom's future of economic growth and trade doesn't look very promising. The International Monetary Fund cited that the UK's private consumption suffered a decrease, as did the value of the pound. These drops were used as reasons for being less active. Predictions for economic growth in other countries were raised, while Britain's decreased by 0.3 percent. The outlook of growth for the medium term was described as "highly uncertain". Economically, Britain's future relationship with the European Union was a factor in its growth outlook, as were an increase in trade barriers, emigration, immigration, and financial activity across the border. In 2019, the scenario could be a "no deal" one, the
