Deadrick Evans Professor Seal March 15, 2012 Life of Joseph Stalin Stalin was a great a man and on his way in life to some prosperous achievements. The man who turned the Soviet Union from a backward country into a world superpower at unimaginable human cost Stalin was born into a dysfunctional family in a poor village in Georgia. Permanently scarred from a childhood bout with smallpox and having a mildly deformed arm, Stalin always felt unfairly treated by life, and thus developed a strong, romanticized desire for greatness and respect, combined with a shrewd streak of calculating cold-hardheartedness towards those who had maligned him. Several times he accused some of his closest supporters. He murdered almost all of the early members of the Communist Central Committee, fearing that they would challenge his authority. Even his secret police was suspected and were killed. Most of this killing was just basically to prove a point in a way of think like I think, but don't over try to think me or you will be killed just like everybody else. This was a cruel way to think but it kept Joseph Stalin in power to the day he died. During this era of Stalin killing off his own people for the greater good of his country, another conflict was brewing and about to happen. Stalin thought his army was safe from the Germans because of a treaty he signed, but that wasn't the case Adolf Hitler was trying to take control over everything and strengthen his army and Stalin army was in the way. So the Germans attacked Russia on June 22, 1941 and this embarrassed Stalin which led to the event of what has made him famous to this day the Radio Broadcast of July 3rd 1941. The days leading up to speech Stalin was thinking up of a master plan to attack back. By the way his plan didn't work and kind of hurt his army more which led to him the speech. Stalin on that day knew this speech would be a make it or break time for his military and his people.
