Statement of Purpose for Pankti Gandhi It is no secret that I enjoy a good challenge. Right from early days at school, Mathematics has intrigued me. Challenging problems are my favorites and obtaining solutions to them always leaves me with a sheer feeling of ecstasy. I always did and always will thrive on solving the most challenging problems. When I was introduced to programming in C++ in high school, I knew I had found my calling. This encouraged me to take up an undergraduate program in Computer Engineering at Amity University Dubai. While this offered me a broad overview of the limitless possibilities the field has to offer, I would like a pursue a more specialized degree in software engineering. This leads me to apply for an M.S Computer …show more content…
With a GPA of 9.72 on 10 (Equivalent to 3.88 on 4), I am one of the very few students who have maintained this scholarship throughout the engineering course. The 4 years at university have undoubtedly been the best years of my life. A well-structured and comprehensive curriculum at Amity, along with a well-versed faculty, has provided me with better knowledge of the fundamentals of core Computer Science subjects such as Compiler Construction, Computer Graphics, Operating Systems, Database Management Systems, Object Oriented Programming, Analysis and Design of Algorithms, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, etc. I have always been a curious person and try to keep up with the latest trends and technologies in the computing world. To this end, I have attended various conferences held in Dubai such as (DWC conference) and RTEX (Robot Technology Exhibitions). My thirst for knowledge has also led me to discover Coursera, an online learning platform where I learnt about Python and Processing. The course ‘Introduction to Computational Arts: Processing’ conducted by SUNY impressed me enough to explore the possible courses that it has to
As a member of the honor roll during the entirety of my high school career, I have strived to achieve the best possible scores every marking period. Every day, I come to school with a positive attitude, and am always poised to learn something new. Over the last four years, I have taken all of the technology courses my school has to offer. I have a heavy “Engineering by Design” background, and also have become skilled with CAD software, programming, and scripting. As a result of my passion for engineering, I have won the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology. Additionally, I am also very interested in Mathematics and Science, with AP Calculus and Physics being examples of courses I have taken to reflect
Regarding my scholarship, I quickly realized getting good grades was relatively easy for me; thu, I decided that I would take advantage of this by involving myself in other school activities such as participating in STUGO, writing for the Equine Gazette, hosting the EG News, and managing the school’s social media accounts. Although my 4.0 GPA is important to me, my best attribute is my well roundedness as a person.
"The antigen then binds to the immunoglobulin E activating the fceRI receptors on the mast cells and basophils. These cells then release histamines into the blood system in response.” Wow, this happened to me all because of a nut? That’s what I thought when I looked up what anaphylaxis was for the first time. The event that sparked this curiosity also ignited my path through life. If it weren’t for that day I wouldn’t have the mindset that helped me realize my inquisitive, hands-on nature and my compassion made engineering the right profession for me.
On both the through-course assessment and the end-of-course exam, students will exhibit their achievement of the course learning objectives and their application of the computational thinking practices.
This selection is the perfect opportunity to learn a different language in the field of computer systems and programming. One who opens his mind to the design of software can explore the scientific way in which humans and computers interact. As a combination of graphic design and computer science, this program builds teamwork skills with other students while developing software and solving problems. Although the Computer Science Challenge’s essential lesson is programming, students can familiarize themselves with the secrets of the computer in preparation of careers that require no programming at
Ever since I started school I have noticed that I have always been naturally inclined and curious about subjects like math and computer technology. I think one of the major appeals that these subjects have to me is that they always have an answer and a reason for why that is the answer. I think this natural curiosity towards these subjects is what led me to want to become a computer scientist. My dream job would be to be a computer scientists working at a large company like NASA or Space-X, that every day are working on large, groundbreaking research in the STEM fields.
The waterfall provides an orderly sequence of development phases, the first phase is gathering requirements for the development of a project. The next phase is analysis which includes activities such as problems identifying and analysis, and reduces the initial problems that may arise. After analysis follows design decision, this exactly derives how the system operates in terms of process, data, hardware, network, user interface, and other important factors in the system environment. Then comes implementation, this phase needs the most resource, cost, and even time-consuming phase when compared to other phases. In this actually system will built. Then testing will be performed on the implemented
Software engineering (SE) is the profession concerned with specifying, designing, developing and maintaining software applications by applying technologies and practices from computer science, project management, and other fields.
My major has gradually revealed the fundamental disciplines and inherent architectures as well as systems of the computer and how to learn programming in the past several
Aiming to carve a niche for myself in this broad area of Computer Science I apply to the Masters in Computer Science Program in Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. This is the Program and the University for me which matches in all aspects of what I seek. The buzz about the enabling environment within the Computer Science and Engineering Department, which requires students to push their limits and helps them do so through providing avant-garde course selection and cutting edge infrastructure is a main attraction. The work of Dr. Pavel Pevzner and Prof Henrick Jensen on Fragment Assembly in DNA sequencing and Global illumination using photon mapping is exactly what I would want to be part of. I understand that admission is difficult and then performing once admitted in a group of students that are competitive and brilliant will be even tougher, I apply because I know that I will be able to perform.
I have always believed in the above adage which asks for more and more learning and I am applying for graduate studies in order to quench my thirst for knowledge. The most important reason for pursuing graduate studies is that it will raise me to a level of excellence where upon I would have the ability to impart knowledge, convince and innovate in my field.
My interest towards mathematics made me to take Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as the main subjects during my intermediate (10+2). After obtaining 94% marks in Intermediate and securing a top 6% rank in engineering entrance test, I opted for Computer Science Engineering in JNTU College of Engineering. Immediately after my Bachelor’s degree, I secured the job in Wipro Technologies and this offered me numerous opportunities to learn about the technical aspects of Software industry.
I am applying for admission to the graduate program in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Carnegie Mellon University. I intend to pursue research in the fields of Signal Processing and Machine Learning. I am particularly interested in working on real world problems and applications which combine concepts from signal processing and machine learning with computational modelling and statistical inference. I am also interested in developing applications of signal and image processing using machine learning methods.
In this section, a summary is provided about the assigned articles as it is identified that which main practice has been discussed, its benefits and challenges, aim of the paper, relevance to researchers and practices, data collection and analysis.
With my eyes clearly set on my goals, I took up mathematics and Computer sciences in my pre-university course. I have excelled in academics right from my school days. In school, I actively used to secure one of the top positions in the class. I have consistently been allured towards subjects that draw upon one’s analytical abilities. Hence, Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics were my beloved subjects. I was placed among the top 10 % of the candidates who appeared for the Higher Secondary Examination. This ensured my smooth passage into an engineering degree.
