As a result of a series of events, Romeo happens to kill himself and shortly after, so does Juliet. So who is the blame for these two killing themselves? In my opinion, Romeo is responsible for deaths and the actions that lead up to the deaths. First is why he is to blame for his own death. It all starts at the Capulet party where Romeo lays eyes on Juliet and instantly falls in love with her even though he is a Montague and she is a Capulet. The two families have a hatred of each other and often show it with civil brawls throughout the kingdom. So Romeo falling in love with a Capulet causes a lot of problems. Also at the party Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, sees that Romeo is at the party and wants to get him thrown out so he relays to Lord Capulet that a Montague is at his the …show more content…
Instead she meets Romeo. Later on Lord Capulet agrees to the marriage of Paris and Juliet and wants them to be married in three days. Lady Capulet then relays the news to Juliet and says that Lord Capulet will disown her if she doesn’t marry him. Juliet is upset by the news and then goes to Friar Lawrence for help. He then makes the plan for her to drink the poison the day before her wedding so she won’t get married to Paris. The day before the wedding Juliet drinks the poison as planned and the nurse comes in to find her “dead” in her bed and they then prepare for her burial. Romeo is informed by his servant and goes to where juliet is after the funeral and then drinks his poison that kills him and as he does that Juliet wakes up and sees Romeo dead and as a result she ends up killing herself because Juliet wants to be with Romeo and sees that he is dead. So through all of these events that lead up to their deaths, my opinion is that Romeo is at fault for both of their deaths as both of them were trying to find a way to make it work but it just made things
Firstly, some people believe that the parents of Romeo and Juliet were to blame for their deaths because of the ongoing feud between the two families. The argument between the Montague’s and Capulets is mentioned in the prologue, ‘Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break, to new mutiny, where civil hands make civil hands unclean, from
Romeo is to blame for Juliet’s and his own death, because when he was banned from Verona, he could have found someone else in Mantua.
Whenever a problem occurs, there is always someone to take the blame, whether it be a war between two countries or an argument between siblings. In the play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, it is no different. This story shows tragedy after tragedy and focuses on the tragic events that led the lovers to their deaths. However, there is much controversy surrounding who is to blame for the tragedies that took place. Some say that their families caused the deaths, while others say their counselor and mentor, Friar lawrence, is to blame since he married the two despite the potential consequences. Based on the facts, Romeo is to blame for all the tragedies that took place. Romeo acted infatuatedly, vengefully, and impulsively throughout this play, causing him to produce many tragedies along the way.
Romeo is to blame for the death of Juliet and himself because his intentions in the beginning of the story were of lust and not love. Romeo states, “Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night like a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear, beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear. So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows as yonder lady o'er her fellows shows. The measure done, I’ll watch her place of stand, and, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand.
Even though there are many different views on who was most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, through information in the text it is clear to see that Friar Laurence was most responsible. The Friar took it upon himself to marry the two in secret making them inseparable. The Friar came up with the plan that was doomed from the start and ultimately lead to the death of the two teens. William Shakespeare’s work was very controversial, Romeo and Juliet was no exception, it involved the death of many people and two suicides of teens just for
Is Romeo the one to blame for these deaths? Is he a cold-blooded killer who is killed out of love? If we think back to Romeo, he has more deaths on his hands than anyone else in Romeo and Juliet, and you're probably asking, How can Romeo be the one with more deaths on his hands? In Act I, Scene 3, Romeo tried to stop a fight and tried to hold Tybalt back so no more fighting could happen, but what happened? Mercutio ended up dead after the accident.
Out of all of the characters that had major roles to play in Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is the character that can most certainly take all of the blame for the double suicide of him and Juliet, and all of the major events that transpired prior to their deaths. This is due to him being overly emotional and so quick to extreme force such as suicide, as well as him being so quick to fall in love and actively pursue a woman, especially one from the enemy family that hates his family. Some evidence to support this is from Act 5, Scene 3, Lines 95-96, where he observes, “Is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks, and death's pale flag is not advanced there,” in response to him looking at Juliet’s “dead” body a little while before she is supposed to wake
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a book of fate and how everyone in the world affects the happenings of this world. The author of this extraordinary book is William Shakespeare. Although Romeo and Juliet killed themselves, there were many people responsible for their deaths. It is arguable that the parents of the two lovers, Friar Laurence, and Romeo and Juliet themselves were the most responsible, some could say that the other main characters like Mercutio, Benvolio, Tybalt, the Nurse, and Paris were involved as well. There were many people responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, although they took their own lives, they were not all to blame.
In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, I believe that Romeo is to blame for the death of the characters in the story. Romeo is largely to blame for the tragic deaths of himself and Juliet due to his impulsive and reckless behavior throughout the play. One significant example is his decision making, particularly his impetuous love for Juliet despite knowing that she is a Capulet, his family’s sworn enemy. For instance, a text example that shows this is shortly after he met Juliet at the party Romeo said “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, a sight!
Other evidence that supports my claim on why Romeo was at fault here was also because of how easily Romeo falls in love and forgets about who he loved in the past. Romeo says, "In sadness cousin,
Romeo and Juliet is an age-old tale of love, sweet-sorrow, and death, it is very common amongst schools, and there is always one question that everyone thinks about differently, who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Many would say, their parents, Friar Lawrence, or possibly even Tybalt, could be held responsible, although it is believed Romeo is who is responsible for their deaths. Though Romeo fell victim to his own mistakes, he is still to blame for what all had happened. In the beginning of Romeo and Juliet Romeo was in love with the beautiful Rosaline, and though she didn’t love him back he strived to get to her heart.
Lord Capulet’s firm and merciless control can also be blamed for pushing his daughter to the extreme and ultimately her untimely death. When Juliet refuses to marry Paris, Lord Capulet proves his insensitivity, even threatening to disown his daughter and cast her to the streets if she does not obey his wishes. He warns her that she may “graze where [she] will, [she] will not house with [him]… for, by [his] soul, [he] will ne’er acknowledge [her]” (III v 200-205). These threats instill fear in Juliet, and in her despair, she seeks the advice of Friar Lawrence who gives her a potion that will make it appear as if she is dead the morning of the wedding. Lord Capulet can be blamed for his stubbornness and insensitivity despite his daughter’s sincere requests not to marry Paris.
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is about two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, forbidden to be together because of feuding families. Countless people contribute to Romeo and Juliet’s predestined fate and misadventures. This ultimately leads to Romeo and Juliet’s suicide. Who is more to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death? Although Juliet acts rashly, Romeo is more to blame.
What is most responsible for the two lovely lover-Romeo and Juliet’s death? In my opinion, there is no one particular person to really blame on their death. However, it is every single person are should be blamed for the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet. If I was answering the question of who were the few most responsible people for their tragedy-it would be three people. Because of people’s decision and different point of view, the people most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet are Lady Capulet, Nurse, and Friar Lawrence.
In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet evidence shows Romeo is responsible for the death of himself and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet both knew getting into their relationship, things were going to be difficult knowing that the families are enemies. When they got support from the Nurse and friar they both decided to get married. Sneaking the marriage was going to be difficult enough, but the mistakes of Romeo changed everything.
