Introduction
Concrete is one of the essential component of public infrastructure and most buildings. It can only be more effective if we used reinforcement with it, because tensile strength without reinforcement is very low. It usually get cracked with time as it is brittle in property. There are some more causes of these cracks are shrinkage, inadequate water for hydration… etc. these cracks causes reinforcement exposes to atmosphere now reinforcement come into contact of O2 & H2O. That can cause corrosion which results in weaken of structure. That being said concrete is a high maintenance material. Concrete cracks and suffer wear and tear. Concrete is not as much flexible that it can handle significant amount of strain. These problems occurs due to Standard Concrete can be solved by self-healing bacterial concrete. This is a concrete which is provided with self-healing agent in form of bacteria. This type of concrete consist of mixture of bacteria as a healing agent and calcium lactate Ca(C3H5O2)2 as a food that support bacteria at the time when bacteria comes in active form. Now healing agent (bacteria) feeds on food (calcium lactate) provided, can heal the damage as well as reduce the amount of damages sustained by the concrete structure.

In several recent studies autogenously crack-healing capacity of concrete has been recognized. Due to presence of secondary hydration of
The basic principle to remember is that concrete is a sloppy God-awful mess when we first look at it but then we turn it into something wonderful. We take the sloppy mud like concoction and

An example of this is shrinkage cracks. As concrete cures and hardens, it loses water and shrinks. During this shrinkage, the concrete steadily gets more rigid which in turn resists the shrinkage. At some point the concrete's rigidity resists any further shrinkage. By this time however, a great deal of built-up internal stress causes the concrete to develop small cracks. These are usually hairline or less than 1/8 inch in width and tend to wander about. Sometimes they will stop at one spot and then start up again a short distance away. They often radiate out from the corners of rectangular holes in the concrete and from embedded objects such as pipes and drains. Weathering will also cause non-structural cracks on the concrete's
First, concrete durable. Concrete is something that will outlive other products up to three times over (“What Makes…”). In addition to durability, concrete is efficient. Concrete can be made with byproducts from power plants, and other aspects of manufacturing. Concrete is primarily made up limestone, the most abundant material on Earth. Above all of this concrete can be recycled. Concrete can be crushed and recycled into another structure or product, reducing the need to mine the limestone for production. Concrete also allows water to pass through which reduces the chance of flash flooding, erosion, and water table depletion as compared to other materials. This is a major check in the sustainability of concrete; the conservation of soil, landscape and ecosystems. Concrete is a very green option when it comes to building
The Development of Concrete
Concrete is a tough and reliable material, and it can be used for a wide range of projects. Eventually though, a structure made from this versatile material will need to be replaced. At the very least, it may require repairs.
Concrete is the ultimate building block of society; there are a plethora of ways that it has been used. Romans were some of the first, in recorded history, to use it; they used it to build their aqueducts and even the Colosseum. If anything, the Romans were some of the first to make huge developments in concrete, and they were some of the first to actually use concrete on a large scale. America has also used concrete on a large scale, using concrete to build the Hoover Dam and the Grand Coulee Dam. Those examples show how concrete is an incredibly strong and durable building material that has remained standing after all these years and will continue to be the primary
Don't resurface the concrete without filling all the cracks first, or they will show through. If the cracks are small, you can fill them with a product you apply with a caulk gun. If the cracks are bigger, you can push the
Most people think concrete is an impenetrable solid. But in actually, concrete is a porous material with many capillaries and voids throughout the surface. Although concrete is strong in compressive strength, it is weak in tensile stength and elasticity. Concrete can tolerate heavy loads, but it is susceptible to damage which causes it to break apart over time.
In order to discuss concrete; one must first mention cement. Cement is a water-based binder used to bind other building materials together. It is used in the production of mortar and concrete during the construction process. Concrete is a material used in construction, made by mixing aggregate, cement, small stones and water. Cement is important because it hold structures together. Many sources states concrete was invented 1756 by a British Engineer named John Smeaton. He did so by mixing pebbles as a coarse aggregate into a powdered brick into the cement. Years layer in 1824, a English inventor named Mr Joseph Aspdin created the first true artificial cement by burning ground limestone and clay together. He is also noted for creating today’s popular concrete; Portland cement. Many buildings use concrete because of its strong element. It solidifies then hardens after mixing with water and placement due to the chemical process known as hydration. Water reacts with the cement, which bonds the other components together, eventually creating a stone-like material. Concrete is used to make pavements, pipe, various structures, foundations, roads, bridges, brick walls and so on. It is either produced site-cast or pre-cast. Site-cast Concrete is standard concrete that is poured into site-specific forms and cured on site; the concrete is created on the actually construction site. Precast concrete is a construction
Concrete used for constructing commercial and industrial buildings needs immediate supervision, therefore, finding the right Houston concrete repair service is essential to repair the damaged area. The problem of repairing is extensive as commercial buildings have to bear more load than the normal buildings.
When concrete is repaired, it is nearly impossible to match the original finish and design. The patch tends to show. It also involves heavy equipment and is generally not a DIY job.
* Verma Ajay et al.., Investigated in ‘Effect of Micro Silica on The Strength of Concrete with Ordinary Portland cement’. The author has observed that the addition of micro silica in concrete reduces the capillary action, absorption and porosity because of fine particles of silica fume. It also decreases the voids in concrete (1).
Reinforced concrete is one of the most important available materials for construction in Egypt and all over the world. It is used in almost all structures as: buildings, shells, bridges, tunnels, tanks and retaining walls. Concrete is made by mixing binding materials as sand and gravel held together with a paste of cement and water. The used of admixture is to change certain characteristic of concrete such as workability, durability and time of hardening. Some of concrete advantages are its high compressive strength, its ability to cast in almost any desired shape, its economical and fire resistance. Low tensile strength, low ductility and cracking consider one of its disadvantages. Regardless of this disadvantages,
There are many places having long cold season. Due to time constraints, many constructions inevitably do concreting in winter. The cold injury of concrete are that flake peeling is caused by the freeze thaw damage of concrete surface material and internal damage produced in the concrete may lead to concrete properties. Prevention the cold damage of concrete in winter construction is important.
