Since I live in the Texoma area the majority of our drinking water comes from Lake Texoma. I think the three sources of groundwater contamination that might affect groundwater in my area would be human-made materials that are littered into the lake, agricultural activities, and human/animal wastes. There are a lot of people in the area who like to go fishing near the lake and drinking alcoholic beverages. These people throw their beer cans and all of their trash into the lake. They also urinate and defecate into the lake as well. There are many nearby farms and ranches to the lake and with all of the flooding water has run-off from these areas back into the lake.

There have been many outbreaks of foodborne illnesses in the United States which claim thousands of lives each year. I chose my essay topic based on my desire to contribute to creating awareness of simple methods of foodborne disease prevention. Also, I currently work in the healthcare service industry and I am enrolled in Community and Public Health with UoPeople. This topic is directly related to my career.

Our project will discuss the unsanitary water in Latin America, which makes life a struggle for the native people. We will cover the origin of the water and how it affects the people. The presentation will have an aspect covering the factors that lead to the unsanitary water conditions. Statistics on health rates of people in taking the water, such as death and illness, will also be shown throughout. Every member of the audience will be given a handout of an interview conducted by us with a representative from Charity: Water on the lack of water in Guatemala.

Contamination of water sources is becoming a large issue in many countries. A very well know case of this is the large outbreak of Escherichia Coli in Africa. This outbreak caused many people to become infected with E. Coli when they ate meat from cattle that had been giving water that wasn't treated. The cattle's drinking water was contaminated with E. Coli when a large rainfall water caused their drinking water to become contaminated with fecal matter.

Water is a critical source that is utilized by most living things on Earth to support it ways of live. The usage of water ranges from basic household needs to agricultural purposes.
