Ethical fitness doesn't shape up on its own, it requires intentionality. Elements to be ethically fit in the course material is helpful to understand the same. As I reflect on these elements in retrospection of my own life I find that most of them are true. These elements are integral part in my leadership roles and life roles due to the training I had received during my student days. I was privileged to play leadership roles in my growing up years. Finding a mentor or role model: We as student leaders were mandated to have a mentor, additionally other seniors around the students were individuals, who lived exemplary lives. They preached what they practiced. Some of the key members in this group have left a lasting impression on me. Particularly, their manner of handling crisis and decision making in the midst of conflicts enabled me to learn to imitate them. Admiration for them has unintentionally helped me to emulate the same traits. One of the strong pointers was to be like Daniel, from the Bible, to determine in our hearts not to yield to temptation much before the temptation itself occurs. …show more content…
Vision statement has helped me personally to have a big picture of what I want to see achieved at the end of my life. First experience of writing down was in my late teen years. It has enabled me stay focused on my vision of “Helping people with their relationship with one another and in turn with God.” Though, the means of achieving the same has changed over the years, yet, the focus on relationships has stayed on. During this DAI course, I was prompted to base the vision statement on values. Having added the underlying values, has helped me to understand, how I will determine, what I will do based on the vision
As a committed member of the SGA/Leadership class, I was taught to lead by example. I achieved missions to instill values of integrity, passion, and service as I cooperated that into my school and community. The class handed me the opportunity to host school-sponsored events while giving me a hands-on, authentic opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills for the future and put the skills learned into practice through the coordination of planning and implementing events. I was nominated to chair numerous committees. Through delegating tasks, working tight-knit with others, laying a foundation for rules, integrity, and values, I earned credibility. My leadership skills spoke "do as I do" and not "do what I say" which enabled others
I have always strove to be the person that others looked up to. I never knew how to do that though. Until one day, one of my friends, a person I idolized, became an American Quarter Horse Youth Association Director. Ever since that moment I knew how I was going to leave my mark, and expand as a leader. Becoming someone fit enough for this leadership role was not an easy task.
Being a leader was never my strong suit, but I often put myself in situations that required me to improve. I would frequently see my younger family seeking advice but were often discouraged since they felt uncomfortable asking their elders. This led to me becoming their mentor because I experienced similar issues first due to being a first generation student.
Throughout my high school years, I gave myself many opportunities and challenges to demonstrate my worth as a leader. Of all these positions, the one I take pride in the most would be taking the lead role of directing a non-profit ACT organization. Together with my classmate, we had founded the organization to which I took charge of after he left to attend college. During my role as president of the ACT organization, my responsibilities included tutoring, finding teachers, organizing sign ups, as well as procuring space to hold classes.
A leadership experience in what I positively influence others and helped resolve disputes was Link Crew. Link Crew is a program where we help incoming freshmen to high school and show them around school and help them out on anything they need like homework. When I was a link crew leader I helped many kids who had low grades. While I was in this program I noticed that many kids had low grades and didn't turn in work or even their homework I did my best and talked to them about how they will struggle so much to get there credits later on some kids listen and did all their work where they at least passed their classes with a D or C. I had people who I got to meet during this I communicated with many people who joined this program and helped many kids. Students who come to high school think it will be very easy like in middle school but it will get harder each year. Many times I was helping the students I feel like It influenced them to work harder and be better in school and help each other in some ways. Link Crew was such a good program that it was where others students helped other students. I showed many leadership experience by joining this program.
These men and women led the way to do what they have done, whether showing their leadership in the business world, the political landscape, or the high school classroom. I know that I have been a leader for my peers, just as they have been for me. When preparing for a presentation for the Delaware State Student Council, I found a quote by Tom Peters, a writer on business management principles, which really resonated with me. “Leaders don’t create followers, they create more leaders”. I have, since then, done what the quote says, and have built leaders in my peers and my friends. Leadership will continue to be a focal point of my character as a member of the Caesar Rodney National Honor Society, to better not just the people around me, but myself as
This gives the implication that values can differ from person to person, so it is therefore important to identify and understand one’s own values in order to work effectively in the field.
Visions usually require changing people’s values. What desired changes in values are highlighted by this case study?
It is important that you develop an awareness of what you value, as these values will be important in informing your relationships with clients, co–workers and employers.
I began horseback riding at age four, and my equestrian pursuits have not only shaped who I am as an individual, but have kept me grounded. Working as a groom to afford riding lessons instilled a work ethic within me that has contributed tremendously to my academic successes. Rescuing a horse at a young age, and caring for him no matter the circumstance, has given me a strong sense of commitment that translates to all avenues of my life. Besides shaping my character, being entirely responsible for my horse throughout college urged me to find a productive balance in my life. Learning to make time for hobbies and other activities outside of academics has greatly improved my overall well-being, and is a lesson that will be invaluable as I pursue
In this project we have recorded data for males and females. Looking at the males data recorded the males seem to have the tibia as the bone with the greatest length compared to the radius bone, and the humerus bone. The radius bone and humerus bone come close to being around the same length. Some equal the same length or range from at least 3 inches apart in different if not smaller on average. The humerus bone did not vary much, from 11 to 14 inches at most. As well as with the Radius bone which varied from 10 to 12 inches. The tibia however, had a bit more of a wider range, ranging from 14 to 20 inches at most. The height guesstimate for most of the males also varied ranging from 52 to at least 71 inches.

The readings for the course complimented the activities that were done in class. Many of the overarching themes of the course pertained to finding your own passion in life. You can only be a great leader if you are passionate about the cause that you are leading. The Harvard Business Press published an article by Stewart D. Friedman labeled, Total Leadership: Be a Better Leader, Have a Richer Life. The article’s aim is to clarify what is important in one’s life. One of the ways in which this is accomplished is by describing your hero or someone you admire (Friedman, p. 478). For my Will to Lead paper I discussed how my grandfather was my hero and somebody that I greatly respect. I have always loved learning, but never thought
In the book Animal Farm, Orwell tried to get many points across to his readers with his novel. One of his goals in this book was to portray the Russian Revolution of which resulted in a totalitarian, and more deadly government than the government of which had been overthrown. In doing this, Orwell made his characters parallel to those of which played major roles throughout the Russian Revolution. For example, Manor Farm represents Russia, while Snowball, Old Major, and Napoleon represent the leading figures of the Russian Revolution. Mr. Jones, the farmer that was overthrown by the animals, represents Tsar Nicholas II, that was the last Russian Emperor, of which was also overthrown by his people. During Nicholas’ reign to power, his people
My ambitious-self carved the pathway, packed with anything that pertained to presenting and leading a team or a project. From the first steps of walking into my high school, I grabbed every opportunity to become a leader and present myself as a notable nominee for Presidency, or other leadership positions. Whenever a question was asked, I was the one, who prepared myself ahead of time, and raise my hand up as fast as I could. Taking the initiative, I volunteered to participate in community service, as a form of a project that I would give back to the community and get real-life career
