Focusing on Ethics and People at Whole Foods: Question 1 Organizational behavior studies what people think and feel and how they behave both individually and within groups in an organization (McShane & Von Glinow, 2015). It is an interdisciplinary study involving the psychological and sociological sciences to evaluate motivation, perception, personality, ethics, task performance and emotional responses in individuals (Fuller, n.d.). A successful corporation, like Whole Foods, recognizes that workers are not only influenced by their work environment but can also reciprocate by impacting the organization’s environment and culture. John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, believes in empowering employees by allowing them to vote on who to hire for their team and has responded by providing them with good pay and benefits without union representation.
