The goal of the internship was to complete a 150 hours and provide a weekly summary of activities. In order to get the internship I had to do a phone screening with Mary Doe. She is the administrative assistant to Commander John Doe. Who is the Assistant Associate Director of Facility Support and also the internship supervisor for the SIU Health Care Management students at FHCC. I meet with CDR John Doe for a brief interview. We went over my goals and what I hope to gain by interning at FHCC. I felt interning at FHCC would be a natural transition because CDR Wallis has a background in Healthcare Administration.

I am a California Department of Insurance (CDI) Licensed Agent, who poses advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Large-scale Document processing. All of my hard skills will serve me well in my career path due to the fact that there is no learning curve, I am already familiar with numerous technology software and adapt quickly to change or new products. Being in the insurance business has exposed me to senior products and tools that will serve well in the Geriatric field. However, I have had no exposure to the Healthcare industry. Therefore, I would like to focus on gaining an internship in order to obtain experience in the field.
By attending Godspell on its opening night I was able to assess the audience based on the event’s initial crowd. This also allowed for an opportunity for me to analyze the audience in regards to the type of individuals that were able to attend an event of this nature on a Thursday evening. My findings were that the people who did attend were mostly students from the university, as this made for the most economical as well as convenient night to attend, considering the event was held in campus facilities. Another finding that I was able to assess about the audience was that those who did attend came in groups, as opposed to individually, which in my opinion was a direct reflection of people attending for supporting purposes as opposed to
For ages, the United States has seemed to be the country where people seek to move to for a better life. The United States was built on immigrants. People have always migrated to the United States both legally and illegally. The main problem the country has face with immigrants is the amount that trespass the border illegally. Illegal immigration is the unlawful act of crossing a national border(Illegal Immigration Pros and Cons). The illegal immigrant population keeps growing at an annual average of about 300,000 people(Currie 10). In the recent year of 2014, there were about 11.3 million undocumented people living in the United States(Krogstad). Many have asked what harm they do to both the economy and the American citizen. Although there are many arguments as to how much harm they cause, there are as many arguments stating illegal immigration benefits the United States. Illegal immigration has a positive impact in the United States within the consumers, the working class, and the overall economy.

This week I began my 6-week internship at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE). The first day was a common orientation for all new employees, internally denoted to as the “onboarding process” where all employees are told they matter. This full-day session communicates the core mission, vision and goals of BCBSNE, organizational structure, operating objectives, and workplace culture. BCBSNE is a not-for-profit health insurance company that is focused on collaboration to find the best solution for their customers; in other words, they are customer-focused. Since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), many changes to the health insurance market required a change in the organizational structure and culture of BCBSNE. Through partnerships with providers, the goals of BCBSNE are to be responsive, accountable, minimize errors, and decrease costs – all components of the ACA. BCBSNE has strategically aligned their goals to those of the government-mandated goals, and implemented them at all levels of the organization, making them competitive in the health insurance market. I found this very fascinating: I was very excited after day one!
Telecommuting can be great for organizations but there are also some disadvantages and challenges in offering telecommuting. According to (Martochhio, 2013), Telecommuting programs may also lead to disadvantages for employers and employees. Some employers are concerned about not having direct contact with employees, which makes conducting performance appraisals more difficult. Some employees also feel isolated because they do not personally interact as often with coworkers and superiors. Some organizations may feel unsure about allowing employees working at home, because when you have internet or computer issues, getting your system back up and running efficiently and effectively can be an issue. There can be a lot of wasted time trying to get your system back up and running and this can ultimately cost the company time and money. MedEx employs over 100 medical billing specialist, therefore, it is important for all of their employees systems to be up and operating at all times. Their daily jobs are intense and consist of working on specific accounts, coding medical
An analysis of the Atokowa organization was conducted and it was found that the company's primary business line is in the declining stage of its product lifecycle. Although this phase of the lifecycle may take a considerable amount of time before it is completely phased out, it is recommended that the organization begin to diversify its operations to mitigate the changing business environment. Since it already has seven retail locations in place, it's should begin to further develop the retail aspect of the business. Currently, the company does not have sufficient infrastructure to allow it to develop its retail division to its fullest potential; it cannot even track what sales stem from B2B activities and those who are generated from the B2C consumer segment. Competitors, such as Ikea,
