Attention all, It is with my deepest regret that our pet mascot and loving family member, passed away last night. Teddy died peacefully in his sleep. He lived a very fulfilled life and touched the lives of all that had the privilege to meet him. With that being said, we will be having a small eulogy held for him on the 2nd of July, at 3 PM. The eulogy will be located at the company park where Teddy loved to play. Everyone is welcomed to attend, but it is not a requirement. If anyone would like to bring pictures or say a word at the eulogy they are more than welcomed. If anyone needs to talk or feels that this will affect their work, can speak to Sherrie from the H.R. department. I understand that these times are hard on us all. I have always
“The Center for Indigenous Peoples Studies at California State University in San Bernardino surveyed 400 individuals, 98 of them Native Americans, and found that 67 percent of Native Americans agreed the "Redskins team name is a racial or racist word and symbol."” (Steele). Some mascots are offensive and racist to certain cultures and races. In, 2005, the NCAA banned schools with Native American mascots from hosting a national championship game (ProQuest Staff). Changing the mascot won’t change the history of the school or team. Some people feel unwelcome because of certain mascots. Some mascots should be banned because they are stereotypical, dishonor cultures, and are offensive.
Addressing the people who disagree with me, whom feel the name of the school and the mascot should represent this city in the past, I understand and respect why you made that decision in your own opinion, so please try to understand and respect my opinion. I feel as if our city should be shown off for our amazing accomplishments, just like any other city, but we need something that anyone can comprehend. Visitors from out of town would not recognize anything from our past and disregard it as if it wasn’t important. But, if we were to have something from present day, something that makes our city famous, so everyone will recognize our intentions, and understand what our wonderful city has done in the past. Hopefully with my decision we’ll be able to share amazing stories of our great city, and be proud of where we came from.
Manning will be greatly missed by many who will remember his love of; “piddling” in his workshop while whittling small figurines, pineapple upside down cake for his birthday and cruising through town while not stopping at red lights. Manning enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and could always be counted on to
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines mascot as, “a person, animal, or object used as a symbol to represent a group (such as a sports team) and to bring good luck.” Hopeful sports teams around the United States rely on their mascots to bring in positive energy as motivation to help win the game. The mascot often serves as the face of a team, and acts to define the team’s character to their opponents. The mascots represent the community that the team belongs to, and that is a big role. When a mascot is offensive or isolates a particular group of people, the mascot can also bring negative attention to the team. The negative publicity will often result in a mascot change.
For my interview I decided to talk to a young mother that I met in one of my classes. For her privacy I will call her Sofia. Sofia told me that she had her first child at the age of 17. At this young age she was very unprepared for what was to come.
Tensions are high… Peddie has our cup and we want it back. Is it not rightfully ours? Every athlete has worked hard for it and every Blair student has anticipated its return to its home since it left for hightstown last fall. Our victory is inevitable and every Buc knows it. School Spirit is at its peak with the rally and bonfire in less than 24 hours from now.
My senior year started off just like any other school year it was calm and there wasn’t much in the news. Lancaster was always a quiet community until this past year. Back home there has been a lot of controversy about the high school mascot name; Redskins. Across the nation this name has thought to be cruel and racist. Even though 62 high schools across the United States still use the name and a very popular football team called the Washington Redskins. The word redskin means an American Indian, Red man or Red Indian. For 63 years this name has been apart of the Lancaster High School tradition. They named the mascot redskin in honor of the land that used to be owned by Native Americans. This wasn’t
I extend to you my deepest sympathy on the death of your son, Specialist Patrick E.
Welcome, dear family and relatives of Banquo, noble thanes and kinsmen. You have come far and to attend this funeral in Lochaber and pay tribute to my best friend and your brave soldier. His death was untimely and it is truly hard for me to speak of him now that he is deceased. I am here today not to speak of his death and that he is no longer here by my side but to speak of his times of great triumph. His death has hurt me and I will do whatever it takes to destroy the lives of those people who murder him. All of you and myself will mourn the loss of one of our great soldiers and my best friend.
His son wrote this eulogy for the funeral. “ We have gathered together to bid farewell to
It is important that communication is part of a euthanasia. In most cases clients pets are a large part of their life, they would want it to be stress free and painless for there animals ending. The decision that the clients have to make to get to this stage is usually hard for them so it is crucial that they are clear on how a euthanasia takes place and the possible after effects. This is so that the client is not disturbed if any unfortunate movements happen once the animal has passed away.
Four years ago, I ambled over to our shared table after the seventh grade health teacher dispassionately declared our names and gestured towards the third table in the center row of his classroom. Neither of us could have imagined that action would excite a companionship defining what I consider to be the most transformative era of my life, and a time which likely holds a similar potency for you. I did not know you, but I knew of you and had spent the semester admiring your sweaters adorned with witty phrases and images from afar, and I know you would say the same about my colorful mismatched socks. We were both rather shy, but you kept pushing for a bond despite my taciturn demeanor and asocial tendencies— for that I am eternally grateful.
Family and friends, we have gathered here this saturday in loving memory of fishy. As you all know fishy was a goldfish who was only six years old, he had a WHOLE life ahead of him! Why oh why did he have to die so young! Ah, I'm sorry this has been quiet on me. I know that fishy wasn't as important to you as he was to me but I hope you all can understand my pain. To make this more bearable I have prepared a feast for you all, so please be kind. I know that people see Fishy as only a fish but he was so much more to me, he was a friend.
When it comes to animals, everyone seems to have an opinion. Some love them, some hate them. Some believe that animals feel and experience authentic emotions, while others believe that they do not have the capability to do so. A lack of belief in the existence of emotions in animals is often used to justify wrongful treatment. Are some animals more aware of feelings than others? These questions and more demand answers. Animals definitely have emotions, and because of this we must rethink many of our modern practices.
