When my Grandmother passed away, I thought about it long and hard. I thought about how I could somehow do something to make her life here on Earth a tribute from the ones whom loved her, and the ones that she had touched. This eulogy written for Corolie Feagin Davis, was not only written as a means to be closure of her life here on Earth, but to celebrate her crossing over into a much better place. That place, which she has spoken to me and others about on several occasions, is where she has been laying up her treasures. All my life she has told me, and others, that she need not gather up her treasures here on this Earth, because as she used to say” her treasures lie on the other side.” Every one of us seated here today has had fond …show more content…

I had never given much thought into how I would die. There’s something about being young that causes us to believe we’re invincible. It’s not like dying young is uncommon, it’s just that there’s something extra despairing about a life ending before it had really begun. Over the past 18 years, I’ve never thought twice about my mortality. I mean, it wasn’t anything special to me. I knew that I would eventually die, but eventuallies aren’t always as far as you think. Here I am, only 18 years old, my cold body
Adam and Eve are alive. They were walking down the street looking scared. I asked if they need help and they said yes and they asked where there home was and where the Garden of Eden was. I asked who they were they said Adam and Eve. Then I asked form the Bible they said yes. So I answer their questions. I told them what happen after they died the world flooded and God would never flood it again. And Jesus died on the cross for us. They asked where they were I told them that they were in a city and I told them how much the world changed and explained what technology is. After I was done they seemed a lot more calm and happy.
Father, I intercede, according to your will, on the behalf of Elijah. That he will come into the understanding of your ways and how to walk in faith through all aspects of his life.
I extend to you my deepest sympathy on the death of your son, Specialist Patrick E.
In the novel “Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison, the Invisible man or the speaker uses his ability to talk to crowds to persuade and to influence his listeners, to convey his ideas, and to create tension so as to lead them into action for the movements that he stands for. Rhetoric and the art of speaking is a vital part of the Invisible Man’s responsibility as a member in the Harlem Brotherhood. One speech that attracts our attention the most is his eulogy for his beloved friend Tod Clifton. He repeats Clifton’s name so as to reiterate to his audience, the harlem community and the spectators at the funeral, how this death was another theft of the black community at the hands of white society. His tone is passionate as he speaks with emotion and depth over the loss of Clifton, a person who was his close friend. However, we also see desperation and hopelessness as he understands that Clifton will never come again. By doing this, the invisible man tries to to individualize Clifton so that he is not just another lost name on the list of the many unjust murders of black men by the police. He wants Clifton to be remembered for the great leader that he was. He also wants to emphasize the challenges that the black community faces to overcome racism.
“We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Alayne Karola Voss, she was a loving mother a dedicated worker and a woman who spent her life helping others.” The crowd was silent as the child of the deceased stood in the sand surrounded by loved ones. Many people came to pay tribute to the woman they adored, her body now severed from her soul and turned to ash. “My mother as all of you know a would not want today to be a day of tears and longing but rather a day of remembrance and joy. A day to gather and think of all the times you shared with her, good and bad.” A few small smiles spread throughout the blanket of black, as the waves washed up on the shore the woman dearly loved.
It was third grade, and I got the opportunity of a lifetime. I was going to get my very own short story published! I would be the author, the illustrator, and my own idol. I can recall how it all happened very vividly.
The sunset awaits outside the window and winter dawns upon me as I sit in my kitchen on a high stool, setting up my laptop. A pot of flowers sits outside the patio door, bowing their heads due to the cold.I am thankful I am not outside, for the kitchen is peaceful, illuminated with soft light and warm. A pan sits on the stove, and the coffee pot huffs steam. Once I get everything set up, my mom comes to join me on the high barstools. Genuinely, I see my mom as old some days but her best features: wisdom, kindness, and love, show through her wrinkles.Physically, I see my mom as the shorter type, not fat but not skinny but healthy, and tan with brown hair that has blonde highlights in it. Today, I’m interviewing my mom, Paula Krock, because she
It was nice to get to know Russ both personally and spiritually. He is an exemplary student of our Lord, living by His sword. His love for God and following of Jesus Christ was truly evident in his preaching. It was clear that he is guided by the Holy Spirit. Russ's prayers were heartfelt and sincere. There is no question that he was truly called by God to spread His word and do His work, both in our church and throughout the community. He is committed to using himself as a catapult, spreading the word of God far and wide. As he listened to the Joys and Concerns of the church, he repeated them to the congregation and added them to his prayers, which everyone appreciated.
Hunting Lila had me hooked from the very first page. Infact, I went straight up to my stepmum, read her the first line and said "How GOOD is that!". Lila is 17 years old and ends up using her telekintetic ability to defend herself from muggers. She then goes back to Southern California where her brother Jack, and his best friend Alex work for a top secret agency called the Unit. Lila figures out pretty soon that the Unit is much more dangerous than her Jack and Alex let on.
It was a not-so-typical elementary school day when Richard Price came in our class to talk to our 3rd grade class about his plumbing and heating business. Sitting in the chair that is usually meant for our teacher, sat a man with work boots, dark jeans, and a bright yellow t-shirt. With excitement for our visitor of the day, we looked at him with wide eyes, interested in the protocol of owning your own business. Despite the fact that we were third graders, and couldn't understand a wide range of the vocabulary being used, we were still in awe listening to him speak to us about the makings of Midwest Plumbing and Heating. After questions were answered, and the speaking was done, I was proud to show off to my class that Richard Price was my dad.
Lying here, waiting is difficult because I am scared, but at the same time excited, yet worried, and I don’t know if I really am ready to be a mother.

Finalizing, death is the word we all live to avoid, and we forget to actually live. According to Piven, the fear of death plays a critical role in our emotions (2004). We fear the idea of the unknown when in reality stepping into its thought it could ignite positivity within ourselves. Writing my own personal funeral eulogy for this assignment was a bit difficult at first, but with an open mind regarding such topic I was able to connect with myself in a unique and new way. None of us are completely certain of the possibilities presented when our lives some to end, but being aware of the fact and writing your own eulogy like this assignment enhanced us to presents you with new insights of how you are living life now.
