Introduction The eurequ What was the build up to the Eureka stockade? The eureka stockade was caused by a disagreement with the government and the miners. The government wanted you to hold a permit with you whilst you were mining, however this wasn’t the problem the problem was the permit costing around 1 pound annually (about 180 AUD) and 10 shillings monthly (about 15 AUD). With all of the mining community against it they formed a rebellion. The reasoning behind the government applying this permit was because there were far too many miners in the mines and this fee would force some back to the city. According to the New South Whales government website this fee was not only mandatory for all miners but if you were caught without one
The outcome of the eureka stockade had their positives and negatives the negatives being the lives lost and the 115 people charged. However, with the mining licence removed one year after this event this slowly became a victory for modern Australia. The positive almost outweigh the negative in the way that the removal of the law made future Laws take this event into consideration. Taking all this into consideration the lives taken do outweigh an absurd law. It is very easy to see this regulation was not going to sit well with the miners and a rebellion was due.
For starters the aboriginal’s stockmen actually got their equal pay to the white stockman. The wave hill was part of the major push for the aboriginals to get their own land. The wave hill along with 1946 Aboriginal Stockmen's Strike, the 1963 Yolngu Bark Petition/ Pilbara strike were major protest for the rights. In 1976 the aboriginal land right act was made, this act help give the back to their traditional owners. To prove that the land is yours you must prove their traditional connection to the land you want. Research by anthropologists, and the aboriginal’s must supply enough evidence before the taking it to Aboriginal Land Commissioner who is the judge of the Federal Court or the Supreme Court. (Clc.org.au, (2015). Under the act, 50% of the Northern Territory was returned to traditional Aboriginal owners in the following 30 years (Korff, J. (2015). The Wave hill walk off had impact on the northern territory land and aboriginals rights, it also gave hope to other indigenous community suffering the same

On June 23rd, 1863 Confederate troops moved into Shippensburg.[4] Imagine yourself as a Shippensburg resident, not far removed from the horrors of war, but far enough away that they never expected the war to reach their town. The enemy successfully cleared out the Union troops and began scavenging for supplies.[5] They stayed until the 27th of June when they started their move towards Carlisle.[6]
Little Cottonwood Canyon is a site bursting with geological history, rock formations earthquake potential on the fault, prehistoric glacial formations, landslides, and many hazards associated with it. The Wasatch fault is bound to have a enormous earthquake in the future and has left behind numerous scars. The mountains have been engraved by glacial formations dated back to the Ice Age (~14,000 years ago). Rock falls and landslides have left hefty boulders as indication of erosion and moisture in the rocks. The hazards on this mountain range are mass wasting, radon, earthquakes, and flooding of Little Cottonwood Creek.

Millford plantation is a historic place located on SC 261, west of Pinewood, SC. Built in 1839-1841, Millford Plantation is considered by many to be the finest example of Greek revival residential architecture in America. The house is located in such a remote section of rural SC that it comes to a surprise to first time visitors, who must drive over miles of dirt roads and through thick forests to reach the house. The house has massive columns, sixteen foot windows, a domed rotunda enclosing a spectacular staircase. All these impressive features are inherent in Greek Rival architecture (Classical American Homes).
Before Whitlam came into power Indigenous Australians had tough lifestyle. In 1966, 200 Gurindji stockmen and their families walked off Wave Hill for a strike against Vestey’s, which was a British pastoral company that ran the cattle station, they employed the local Aboriginal people. It was to protest against their poor working and living conditions they suffered from. Aboriginal workers would be paid less to non-Aboriginal employees (Naagovau, 2015). This then lead to an attempt to introduce equal wages for the Aboriginal employees in 1965, but in March 1966 the Conciliation and Arbitration Commission decided to delay it further until 1978. The Wave Hill walk off had started the first Aboriginal land claims (Naagovau, 2015). December 1968, people of a well known Indigenous community called Yirrkala became the first Aboriginal people to bring a claim for their recognition to their land title to the Northern Territory Supreme Court, this was known as the Gove Case (QLDeduau, 2015). This action was reviewed and put on trial in May 1969. In the 1967 Commonwealth Referendum there was more than 90% of the voters to assist the Commonwealth to allow all Aboriginal people to be counted in the poll. All states except Queensland had abandoned the policies and laws that
I just started working at Oyster Harbors Club a few weeks ago, but my experience there has been wonderful. It has been an honor life guarding on the beach, and getting to know all the families and the children attending camp. I enjoy working in such a friendly family environment, and I am excited to work next summer as well. My educational plans for the future consist of acquiring my bachelors degree in biology that would help me in pursuing a medical career as a doctor. My passion has always been helping others whether it is at work, making sure people are safe, or giving back to my community. After becoming a certified doctor, I plan on specializing in dermatology. I am a very hard
The Eureka stockade has changed a lot of our history, life would not be the same. We have learned everything about the stockade and the gold is still being mined to this day. The Eureka Stockade rebellion was the first of its kinds against British authority in Australia. It was a brief bloody battle which led to historic reforms for prospectors and government. Today, people ask what, where and when was the Eureka stockade built, what were the main grievances of the miners, who were the main leaders of this rebellion, account for the actual battle, what was the eventual results of this important moment in Australia’s history and finally how did the Eureka Stockade transform Australia?
The year is 1778, the place is Valley Forge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. George Washington and many other revolutionary soldiers are here. I am one of them. Valley Forge is a Winter Camp that we have built to keep an eye on the British army. When I arrived here in 1777, I was not exactly a perfectly healthy man, and I am far from healthy now. Life here is torture. Everyday I see my friends and fellow soldiers die. I have been here eight whole months with only one more to go. I cannot wait to leave this godforsaken place. But George Washington and an abundance of other soldiers would like me to stay to fight for this soon-to-be country. However, I can not stay here, for it is unbearable. There is not enough food to go around, illness and
Frederick Maryland was founded in 1745 by German settlers and has a rich heritage and a rich opportunity of success. Frederick has been home some famous people like the man who wrote the national anthem Francis Scott Key as well as Maryland first elected governor Thomas Johnson. Frederick is also home to a school I fell in love with hood college. Why would one ask? It reminds of home, I envy the education learning and educational opportunities. Hood also has an exceptional athletic program that helps build the true character for a student-athlete.
What separates a group from a community? What separates an individual from a group? The answer is not stereotypes. A black man should not be separated by their color but by their integrity, talents, and capability. Every person is different in their own way. They are molded and shaped by the people that surround them. The community and the place affect how one will grow up. If someone is living in a big city, they will have a different life than one in the country.
Once the group had finished visiting these towns and had ended their journey Charles Perkins reported what had happened to a crowd of approximately two hundred at the 1965 Federal Council for the Advancement of Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islands conference in Canberra. The responses after this conference were mainly positive and because of Charles Perkins’ the NSW Aboriginal Welfare Board had announced they would spend sixty-five thousand pounds on more housing in Moree for the Aboriginals. The Australian Freedom Riders had caused many debates all across Australia which had then caused the 1967 Referendum which got rid of a law in the constitution that had stated ‘laws can be made for the people of any race, other than the Aboriginal race in any state, for whom it is deemed necessary to make special laws’. The law was changed and removed the section ‘other than the Aboriginal race’ this was a positive change as it meant laws could be made in favour of the Aboriginals which could help protect them. Another positive aspect that came out of the
