European Americans European Americans are comprised of a variety of different countries. Some of the countries that they represent are Ireland, England, Italy, France, Germany, Russia, Poland, etc. All throughout history European Americans have been known to be conquerors. They conquered the US by taking over the land that rightfully belonged to the Native American Indians. There were no apologies made for this conquer, it simply took place. Derald Wing Sue and David Sue (2003), conducted several interviews asking people what it meant to be “white” or European American. There is a definite difference not just in race but in gender as well. White men are seen as all powerful, and privilege is automatically given to them. They do not have to contemplate the unfairness of the world, because the world is geared towards them. While it is true that white women also enjoy much privilege, they are seen as less than a man. Even the laws passed in the past made women a mere property to their husbands, and new laws had to be erected that permitted them the ability to vote. They tend to explain the development of their psychological illness as problems with their husband, his family, familial concerns, isolation and boredom, and simply being overworked. Due to this explanation they tend to view anhedonia and fatigue in terms of being physically exhausted due to being overworked. This exhaustion causes them to be unable to work and to feel disturbed in their mental processes. Added to this they tend to view work as a necessity and not a choice.
