Feedback both positive and negative is important for personal development as it helps us to become more aware of what we do and how we do it. Both in good and bad ways, this feedback can then be used to self-develop and improve our practice.

The initial and diagnostic assessments are closely linked; all information gathered from these assessments are put together to help the learner and the teacher build a clear picture of the individual. This information will then be used to agree goals and actions, personalise learning, develop an ILP, tailor session plans to meet the individual learners needs and use teaching methods to cater for all learning styles.

In my point of view feedback is an essential tool for learners’ progress. If the student is not assessing their work then they are not learning and given feedback are vital to ensure best practice is maintained and the learners are achieving to their full potential.

3.4 In order to support pupils using formative assessment it is necessary to ensure all pupils are clear of the learning intentions of the lesson. They also need to know the reason that they are learning it and the assessment that will take place. A discussion with them will make sure that all this is clear. Success

I ensure I have the standards I need, any worksheets or handouts needed, Planning forms, feedback forms and addition support handouts. I also take care of the learners portfolio keeping this locked up in a cupboard.I ensure that the environment is easy to work in and somewhere the learner can write or take notes. I try to avoid any distractions that may affect the learning.This evidence will be referenced to Unit 303 Assessment

The purpose of this unit is to assess the learner’s knowledge, understanding and skills required to promote the professional duty to maintain the currency of knowledge and skills and the need to continually reflect on and improve practice.

The term ‘formative assessment’ is used to describe the activities and processes used by teachers and learners to gather information that informs future teaching and learning. Assessment becomes formative if the information gathered is used as feedback to adapt and modify teaching and learning (Black and Wiliam, 1998, p.2). There are a variety of different methods and techniques that can be used by teachers and learners that can contribute to enhancing learner progress. These include

The assessment is manageable and learners should have enough time based on the review of the practical PowerPoint example done by learners during prior lessons of the this module

The feedback I received on all TP sessions emphasised on my confidence in delivering the teaching practices which was good and encouraging. The other positive element of delivering the lesson that came out of the feedback was my interaction and engagement with the students
