Natalie joined the theater group at her school for the first time this year. She is nervous and excited about being on stage.
She was not cast a role in the first play they performed. However, she was given the task of introducing the play to the audience.
Because of the school’s small auditorium the show will be performed three times for different groups.
The first group consists of the elementary and middle school students. The second group are the high school students, and the last group will include the community.
At first Natalie wrote one introduction that she planned to give three times. However, after careful consideration she felt that three different introductions are better.

Jordan wrote a children’s story for a school project. The children’s story is going to be read to the preschool class when they come to visit.
Jordan’s story was engaging for young preschoolers and he received a lot of compliments on it.
Everything was great until Jordan wrote an introduction for his book. The introduction featured language that was too mature for three and four year olds.
Once Jordan made the introduction fun and appropriate for preschool he was ready to present his story.
Jordan’s story was successful because he remembered his audience and wrote in a way that they could understand.

The book I selected was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom written by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault and illustrations by Lois Ehlert. The informational book was published in 1989. It is an ABC basic concept book with funny poetry. The book is an alphabet rhyme/chant that narrates what happens when the letters try to climb a coconut tree. The recommended grade level for this is the book is for 3 years old to 6 years old ("Chicka," n.d.) Reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom supports the relationship between oral language and literacy development for preschool children through new vocabulary development. It gives children opportunities to learn new words and letters and how to use in proper context. Reading books give children a rich language environment. Preschool children with strong vocabulary is a strong indicator for future reading skills.
Literacy, whether it is reading, writing, or listening, can mean many different things to people. Each form can impact everyone immensely. In 2016 I had a literacy encounter that made a lasting impact on me. That summer I began babysitting John, a precious five-year-old boy, for the sole purpose of building up my bank account. Since both of John’s parents worked long hours at the hospital, John did not get to spend as much quality time with them as he or they would have liked. I felt badly for John, so I made it my goal that the time I spent with him would be meaningful and memorable.

In our Creative Expressions in Early Childhood course, taught by the lovely Mrs. Muth, requires us to do an internship along with this course where we are required to get 40 observation hours in. Throughout this internship so far, I have gained two strengths and weaknesses through this experience.
Throughout the process of developing our own position, we must draw ideas from other people. This process is called synthesis, as it involves considering various viewpoints in order to create a new viewpoint. However, it is extremely important to know as much as possible about the topic. The main point of synthesizing sources is to enter the conversation that society is having, with logical evidence to back yourself up. But, when looking for reliable source, be aware of a bias that the source might bring to the topic. A writer must analyze the rhetorical situation, even when it comes to sources and documentation. As we further develop skills in writing synthesis essays, the sources that we use will inform our position on the topic. Throughout the essay, the main event is what we have to say, your position is central. As the writer, it is your job to analyze the sources you come across, and to see which one appeals to the audience you are presenting to.

We arrived at the theatre about an hour before the performance started. We anxiously waited in the lobby with hundreds of people, mostly women, all dressed in their finest. Just when the room seemed to reach just beyond its capacity, the doors opened, and people trickled into the large performance space. My aunt, my mother, and I scanned the seat numbers until we found ours

Young children are like sponges; they absorb information like a sponge absorbs water. It is essential for them to be emerged in an environment in which they can absorb positive information so that one day they can become contributing members of our society and have a better future. For this reason, there is a pronounced importance on providing enriching environments for children to learn and develop appropriately. One of the ways that this can be achieved is through a literacy rich environment specifically with the use of story reading and storytelling.
