Working effectively on a team can be a challenging task for some people. It can be difficult and frustrate sometimes if there are poor communications between team members. Team member’s strengths and weaknesses impact within the team. Interacting with teammates and keeping the team on track is not only team leaders’ responsible but also within team members. A manager who works with group or team must know how to develop grouping process and understand group behavior. At workplaces, teams are usually established by certain teammates who have the same interests or goals. The groups normally develop through five stages as forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjouring (Kinicki and Fugate, 2015, p.265). The forming stage is the first stage in the developing process. Team members start getting to know together, understanding the group’s purpose, and establishing the group’s rules. I have been involved in team at workplace that we keep the customer claims within Service Level Agreement which is not allowed to pass ten business days timeframe. All team members focus on researching, resolving dispute claims within timeframes. Storming is the second stage which individuals know to answer where their roles in the group and determine if they fit into the group. This stage is challenging in some group that they cannot overcome due to the conflict between team members. When group is established and clarified, norming is the next step to move on in the development process. Team leader shares their knowledge, and members respect and trust together to achieve the team goals. Performing is the fourth stage which characterized by a climate of open communication, strong cooperation, and helping behavior (Kinicki and Fugate, 2015, p.266). Each has certain relevant skills, knowledge and get advantages of shared knowledge and experiences within the team. To be an effective member in the group process, team member needs to share a commitment to achieve the team goals, meet the team’s expectation and work well together with others. Team member shows the ability to solve their assignment in timely manner and commit to team project’s timeframe. If one not put in the effort, the team development process will be delayed and not able to move to the next
