Personally, from the class of English 1101, I have learned on how to use the writing processes effectively, where the first step is to have a pre-write, which focuses on brainstorming ideas form either the group or from individuals’ brain for the required topic. The second phase of the process is the thesis statement, which is the primary idea of the entire essay. I discovered that the thesis statement should be persuasive and truthful. The third step is on developing drafts, where it showed me on how to focus on content, organization, and style. Again, I noted that I must ask myself who is my audience, and what do they want or need to hear.

The elements of a thesis are generally stated in a single sentence. A topic is not covered in a thesis, but opinions are expressed. A thesis indicates that there is support to follow, and often organizes supporting material. Effective thesis statements are precisely worded to draw in the audience. The location of a thesis is very important because if it appears at the opening of the essay, it starts the essay off with a strong statement providing clear direction and an outline of the supporting evidence. If a thesis statement appears in the middle it allows the writer to introduce the subject and guide the reader into accepting a thesis that is explained, as well as defended. The thesis being presented at the end allows the writer to close the thesis with a strong statement. The types of evidence that can be used in a thesis vary from personal observations to statistics. What are the elements of a thesis? There are several but the first one is that it is stated in a single sentence (Connelly, 2013). This will be the main point in your entire thesis and is summed up in one complete sentence. In a thesis you will be expressing an opinion and not just a topic (Connelly, 2013). It is going to be purely on your point of view not just a general topic, which is also the third element, focus your topic (Connelly, 2013). The next part of a thesis is to show proof and evidence to support your view point, and use factual evidence. The final two elements are to organize the material and to precisely word it so the statement is accurate (Connelly, 2013).
