Evaluation and Feedback of my Volleyball Skills

Everyone has a general level of skill development, however people don't understand how to take the skill and improve it. In this essay I will evaluate my volleyball ability and the feedback techniques that were displayed by my physical education teacher. Throughout the unit I made a four week journal to record the type of practice, feedback from game play and training. To evaluate my skill level in volleyball I examined what is the nature of a skill, how skills are developed and how they are effected as well as the importance of feedback. Throughout the unit the overall type of practice that was conducted ultimately affected my volleyball development; this was because of massed practice. This was shown in game like scenarios where there was a high possibility of performing a skill regularly. These factors help my motor learning as they focused on certain movements that are used in volleyball. Throughout the unit feedback was passed on by the teacher and fellow peers.
When learning a new skill there is a good chance the skill is being performed incorrectly, to correct this feedback is used. (4) “Feedback is the information that a diver receives about their performance, whether that performance is in practice, a training session, or during a competition.” Even though this quote isn’t relevant to volleyball it is based on their performance and how it is improved. Feedback is used to evaluate your performance either in practice or competition. Feedback has 4 different areas, these are Intrinsic, Extrinsic, Knowledge of performance and Knowledge of results. The feedback techniques that were used to improve my development in volleyball were intrinsic and extrinsic feedback. Intrinsic feedback was developed because I had a reasonable understanding of how volleyball is played from previous experience so I could understand if I was not doing something correctly.
