The evaluation process should be progressive to incorporate overall planning, implement changes, which contribute to success. In order to focus on school climate and norms, the evaluation design must include the students, instructions, and outcomes to improve communication and building-level concerns to be address in this response. School Climate and Social Norms The school principal, other staff leaders, and personnel set the tone and the climate of the organization. Dr. Hunter indicated the learning environment should be positive, inviting, friendly, clean, and safe. Visitors should feel welcomed as they enter the school building. Most importantly, Dr. Hunter (personal communication, November 7, 2011) made it a point to allow students with special needs to participate in all of the events of the school. Students with disabilities work in the media center, school office, and assist teachers as peer helpers. In addition, other students participate during morning announcement activities; recite the Pledge of Allegiance and the creed. It was evident that Dr. Hunter expectation for all students to achieve academically and make a positive contribution to the school environment. Protocol for Professional Growth Learning is ongoing and constantly changing. Dr. Hunter professional development program is consistent with the school mission. The mission ensures that teachers understand standards, practices, and procedures of the curriculum. Mandatory professional development are offered during staff meeting and weekly with coaches during planning for general education and special education teachers. One math coach and one English Language instructional coach delivered the professional development instructions. Occasionally, the principal or administrators from the county provide instructions, such as trainings on TIENET, and High Yield Strategies by Marzano.
