The tittle of this book is “Even Angles Ask” by Jeffrey Lang. Before I go into details about this amazing book, I would like to briefly introduce the great author of this book. His name is Dr. Jeffrey Lang and was born on 30 January 1954 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Dr. Jeffrey Lang is currently an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Kansas. He reverted to Islam in the early 1980. This book is basically about his journey and experience in reverting to Islam in America. This book contains 6 inspirational chapters.
This book is so powerful for me because it makes me realize that I am actually not a really good Muslim yet because I am Muslim today only because my parents are Muslim. I never had any interest
I never heard of this book until PRIME. Once I started PRIME I told people about the books I had to read and everyone said that they loved reading this book. Once I heard about the book from a few people I was excited to start reading it. This was probably my favorite book to read so far. This book challenged me to rethink how I go about doing things. As I said before it challenged me to be more bold, and rethink what success meant. It also challenged me to be more persistent. I tend to be a person who if I fail at something I like to go back to something that makes me feel comfortable when the same opportunity comes to
Personally, for me the book changed my way of viewing muslims and immigrants. It is true that a minority of them have committed terrorism or will but we can't let a minority affect the majority of them and just hate every aspect of them. If we do that then that just shows how inconsiderate and selfish we are as a nation. After 9/11 took place, it seems like every muslim is stereotyped as a murderer or terrorist. I still understand why majority of America doesn’t want one single muslim here, because they have been involved in most of the terrorist attacks that have took place in our country and mainly we don’t know what their attitude is.
Thesis: In his book, No god but God, Reza Aslan recounts the history and teachings of Islam in order to deconstruct the barriers within interreligious comprehension.
I remember seeing a completely different person stare back at me in that mirror. I questioned why I let that happen to myself and why one group of people could make another so worthless. This book was my outlet. It let me pour my heart and emotion on one subject into something that could educate anyone. I used it as a way to get it all out without being afraid. I was leaving this part of my life behind me because of the trauma it brought. Now, it did not erase everything. I still suffered and cried and questioned about everything that had happened, but it shape me into someone who feels the pain of others and help them grow.
Personally, the book taught me a lot about how people deal with situations when under pressure, people’s need for power and how easy it really if for a war to break out and I found that in my mind I could easily link what was going
I will recommend this book to everyone because it has elements that I feel most books do not have. It was enjoyable to read because I have had many problems with my father and this book helped me come to a revelation. This book kept me going and all I wanted to do was curl up underneath my covers and read this book. It was such an inspirational tool that will never leave my heart and I will always cherish how it made me feel. I am really excited to read his other book Into the Air. If it is anything like this book, I will love
I found this book to be an eye opener to many things that I never really paid attitude to. We all want to believe that where we come from and who we are does not affect what we will be come. Yes all have heard it before you can be what you want to be as long as you work hard for it. But really many things that people would like to be are out of reached for the simple fact that you are not in the right class of people. Even thought
After reading two other books on the Holy Spirit this book was by far the most
I believe that this book has value and people from all walks of life should read it. We all need to become much more aware of how strong and how damaging this kind of
To me this movie really teaches you to stay strong, keep motivated and most importantly that anyone can be successful. This movie taught me so much about prevalence and how the power of good over comes evil. Those women prayed so much that they got so much accomplished and they got so many things to change for the better. In my future I will use this movie as a motivation tool and as a way to remind myself that even though times are hard they will get better you just have to hold on. Also in the future I will use this movie to show that anything is possible if you have help from those you love and believe in.
Did this book inspire you to want to do more research on the subject? Why? Why not?
I learned something wonderful from the text that still resonates in my heart. I learned that every life can have divine purpose and blessing, if centered and committed to its creator God. Looking through the times and characters covered through the
Our religion and where we are raised is a major ingredient to formulating our identity. It is also why one person may perceive, as ‘kissing in public’ to being extremely wrong, where as one may not even notice it. Within the Iranian and Middle-Eastern culture, numerous perceive situations through the rights and wrongs of the Holy Quran. Research also claims that many of the passages within the Holy Quran “…are meant for human perception and comprehension…” (Berrada 45). This statement illustrates that our
The book made me think a lot about the way, people react to other people deaths, and how I reacted, when someone I knew died. I absolutely agree, with the theme in this book, that people should stop avoiding the topic
I honestly enjoyed reading this book not only because it was short and to the point but it brought clarity to me that life is too short to live in the life of suffering. It helped me to see the importance
