In the year of 2012, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimated that Americans ate an average of 52.3 pounds of beef, 57.4 pounds of chicken and 43.5 pounds of pork per person.(citation?) Only 5% of Americans are vegetarians and with that much meat eaten by Americans, in one year alone why should you to forced to become vegetarian? With meat being the main staple in the Americans diet there is no reason we should take that of the table. That fact alone shows that most Americans’ diets are made up of meat sources. According to the United States Census Bureau (USCB) the U.S. population was 313.8 million; meaning that 16 billion pounds of beef, 18 billion chicken and 13 billion pounds of pork was eaten by Americans alone in…show more content…
So we don’t need huge sharp teeth like other mammals do to chew their food. Eating meat is just part of us and our nature. With us humans being carnivores it is our nature to eat meat. With the exact definition of carnivore being an animal that eats meat or a meat eater it is literally part of us to eat. We shouldn’t have what is part of us taken away because a few people want all of us to vegetarian. We shouldn’t mess with nature and change what our bodies are made for. Why would we eliminate what has benefited us for over 2.3 million years? There is no point in messing with nature and taken away what is important to your body. Meat is an important part of our diet not only because it provides essential nutrients to our body, but also helps our body be effective. Many people think the only reason we eat meat is to satisfy hunger and to receive protein, but it is for so much more than that. Meat is more than just a complete protein unlike soy products, for example, which need to be combined with supplemental proteins to be considered "complete." It's loaded with other healthy goodies, including high levels of iron and B vitamins, such as niacin and riboflavin which enables the growth of healthy skin and nerves as well as help digestion and maintain good vision.
