I will discuss these factors with the child’s parents in order to design an intervention program with the most current, appropriate, and effective evidence-based interventions. Applying evidenced-based practice has three steps. Step one is making sure the research is creditable. Going into detail about step one should model a social work practice. In a social work practice, you always want to make sure you are looking for clarity and in some cases it helps to paraphrase it or reword it differently. As a social worker you have to be non-judgmental and try to understand every perspective. You have to be unbiased when it comes to wording and how it affects the meaning of the conversation. Also, making sure the research on the surveys or interviews are fair and represent the entire population. The second step is when you match your outcome of the research in your own “practice wisdom." As a social worker you want to compare the research you made with prior experience. You want to have different perspective and information that help you understand the client better. Lastly, the last step is to ask questions to the clients about their significance of what they have accomplished by working with you. Just asking what the client has learned can help

Now after twenty years and being given the title of an evidence-based practice, researchers have come up with a holistic approach in treating co-occurring disorders. Researches coined this evidence-based practice as integrated treatment, which is basically a marriage between health and mental health services/treatment/interventions.

There is not one treatment intervention that will solve all issues. Therefore, we have to be able to evaluate each situation uniquely. Treatment intervention can involve the use of prescription drugs in order to limit the outcomes of any condition. Good interventions include good monitoring procedures, follow-ups, and support. One treatment that works for an individual may not necessarily work for the next person. The purpose of the intervention is to break a negative cycle that has become destructive to an individual. Most of the individuals that undergo an intervention will begin with a slight condition of denial. The chemical dependency on any type of drug can be detrimental to an individual and his or her family. The situation in case one, dealing with the 18 year old high school student, would be an appropriate person to implement into a treatment intervention because he will need the additional support and medical support in order to overcome his addiction.
Evidence based practice (EBP) is an important part of social work. Every social policy and interaction with individuals is based on experience and careful selection of research. Moreover it aims to empower individuals and reduce discrimination. Therefore it promotes productive interactions, which is crucial in this economic climate. Therefore. In medicine today it is becoming essential to remain on the journey to best possible practice, which “involves implementing available evidence into practice” (Dogherty, et al., 2013, p. 129). This paper will discuss about alcohol and substance abuse in the workplace, and the proper evidence based practice interventions for treatment to help the issue. I will discuss background information about the problem and why it is importance of why this topic needs to be addressed. I will also discuss evidence based interventions that have been proven to help those who have a problem with alcohol and substance abuse in the workplace. This will be done by reviewing different articles written by researchers about the problem and how they used interventions to help solve it. Finally, I will explain whether or not I would implement the use of these interventions in my current practice as a social worker.
I have been working in community based services for three years now and one of the topics that I thought would be interesting to research would be the efficiency of evidence based practices within a community setting. I have myself been trained in several evidenced based practices which I have implemented with families. However, it has been a common experience among my colleges that many of these practices do not fit well within CBHI services. I would like to explore the issue and propose date to my field placement on how to better implement these evidenced based mental health practices within the community. I realized that this is a broad topic but I will work on refining this idea as I believe it will be valuable for my clients.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) outlines fundamental essentials for the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) student to further develop and advance the nursing profession. DNP Essential III, Clinical Scholarship and Analytical Methods for Evidence-Based Practice, focuses on the importance of translating research into clinical practice (American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], 2006). Evidence-based practice is the hallmark goal of research studies and DNP graduates are in a position to assist in the generation of new knowledge and affect evidence-based practice (EBP) from the practice arena (Chism, 2013). In order for research to be translated into practice, the data collected, analyzed and interpreted needs to be the result of proper use and translation of the statistics utilized throughout studies.

Evidence – based practice can be defined in two ways as to being the approach to therapy emphasizing the pursuit of evidence on which the theory or techniques would be helpful for the clients to examine evidence before taking action (Pucci, 2005). Another way to identify evidence – based practice is by taking an approach to therapy which is supported by research findings or findings providing evidence that is accurate (Pucci, 2005). The purpose of evidence – based practice is to apply current mental health and addiction practices. As it may apply to individual clinicians, evidence – based practices should increase the efficacy, efficiency, and the applicability of services provided to individual patients (Norcross, Hogan, & Koocher, 2008).
