What the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Accomplished? In order to understand the meaning of the death and resurrection of Jesus it is imperative to comprehend the meaning of the Old Testament and the covenants that God made to Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David. When God created the world and humans it was for God to inhabit the world with humans. However, Adam and Eve the first humans that God created, sin against Him by eating from the tree that God had forbidden. From that moment on, the world fell into sin. God tries to renew the relationship that was intended for humans to have with Him. Yet, as God continue to reaching out to His people, they remained in their sinful ways. Yet Solomon also drifted away from God. God never breaks his covenant and He continues to be faithful time after time. However, he also punished Israel when they were not faithful to the mosaic covenant. In order for the relationship to be restored, God made the last covenant with Israel. He would write the covenant in their hearts. We can see the fulfillment to this promise with Jesus. The Messiah, Last Covenant There is not a lot of information recorded regarding the early years of Jesus. However, there is abundant information regarding the beginning of Jesus ministry. Jesus’s baptism was a symbol of the beginning of his ministry. The devil tried to stop Jesus by tempting him but Jesus being the son of God did not give in to the temptation. Jesus was focused on His mission to renew the relationship between God and man-kind. He knew he was the only one that could fix the damage done in the beginning of time. Jesus message to people was to love one another but most importantly it was a message of repentance. ““The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15, New International Version). In order to reach his audience Jesus would speak in parables in that manner, his message was delivered in a simple way to understand.
