In The Butter Battle Book by Dr. Seuss, there were the Yooks and the Zooks arguing about the way you should put butter on the bread. He best used writing craft to convey meaning. He used a lot of exaggeration, parody, and metaphor. Dr. Seuss did a great job of using exaggeration to help him show his meaning clearly. One good way he used exaggeration was when he said “ It’s high time that you knew the terrible thing the zooks do, In every zook house and in every zook town every zook eats his bread, butter side down.” which really wasn't what he was talking about because this story was written in the time of the cold war at this time so you know that there was furthering meaning behind this. The second good exaggeration was “With my trip-sling
Though difficult to pick up David Sedaris employs the rhetoric strategies of Sarcasm, Irony and Understatement.

At the start of the book, a grandpa Yook takes his son to a wall where, "On the far side of [the] wall live the Zooks..."(Seuss, 4) where they eat their bread with the butter side face down, opposite to the Yooks right side up and, according to grandpa Yook was, "...the right and honest way!"(6) as a way to depict the separation of communism (butter side down) to the democratic butter side up by the "iron curtain". These events, the iron curtain and communism dispute, called for Chief Yookaroo, General Douglas Mac Arthur, to begin finding ways to fight the Zook battle between Grandpa Yook and the Zook, VanItch. When Grandpa Yook returns defeated, Chief Yookaroo claims he's "...not to blame! And those Zooks will be sorry they started this game."(12) showing MacArthurs' desire and persistence to win the war. This continues to persist until Chief Yookaroo gets desperate and has his lab scientists come up with a dastardly weapon that "...can blow all of those Zooks clear to Sala-ma-goo! They invented the Bitsy Big Boy Boomaroo," (34) an extremely powerful weapon reminiscent of the nuclear bomb. After all other weapons have been used and failed, both Grandpa Yook and VanItch stand on the separating wall, each with a Bitsy Big Boy Boomaroo, they wonder "Who's going to drop it? Will you...? Or will he...?,"(44) showing how close the U.S. and the Communist element

The essay “Writing is Easy”, by Steve Martin, is a hysterical essay that is comical in a way that I don’t think the author intended. I think the essay is funny mainly because there is a part that is ironic for me that I can relate to. Although there is other parts in the essay that could be humorous as well, I couldn’t get over one certain section of it. The funniest segment of the story is, “Go to an already published novel and find a sentence that you absolutely adore. Copy it down in your manuscript. Usually, that sentence will lead you to another sentence, and pretty soon your own ideas will start to flow. If they don't, copy down the next sentence in the novel. You can safely use up to three sentences of someone else's work - unless you're

A poet, a teacher, an activist – These are all the things that Theodor Seuss Geisel managed to be. Geisel was born into the German family of Theodor Robert Geisel and Henrietta Seuss Geisel on March 2, 1904. He grew up having pride in his German background, but it all changed to shame after he experienced the torment of living through WWI. Despite the discouraging experiences he had during those times, they were not enough to stop the very talented “Dr. Seuss”. Geisel showed many that there were no boundaries to the imagination.
