EXAMINING KNOWLEDGE ATTITUDE AND SEXUAL PRACTICE TOWARDS HIV/AIDS AMONG SENIOR SECONDARY STUDENTS IN NIGERIA: A PUBLIC HEALTH ANALYSIS BY RASHEEDAT OLUWAKEMI OJIKUTU AND MONSURAT OLUBUKOLA OJIKUTU

INTRODUCTION
Several studies were reviewed to assess the level of knowledge, attitude and practice towards HIV/AIDS among secondary schools students in Nigeria, in order to determine the existing gaps and to provide future recommendations.
Specific Aims
The specific aims for this review are as follows;
1. To examine the relationship between knowledge of HIV and sexual behavior among in-school adolescents in Nigeria.
2. To examine the difference in the knowledge of HIV/AIDS of adolescents between the adolescent female and adolescent male.
3. To identify the factors that influence risk perception and behaviors towards HIV/AIDS among in-school adolescents in Nigeria.
4. To provide a summary of literature pertaining to the level of knowledge attitude and practices of HIV/AIDS among in-school adolescents in Nigeria. And to offer necessary recommendations (depending on the findings) for future research areas and programs.

METHODS

A meta-analysis approach was employed using electronic databases, current journals, and bibliographic articles were gathered from 1980 to 2011.
Keyword used included: HIV, adolescence, attitude, knowledge, practice, AIDS, condoms, behavior, epidemiology, Nigeria, sexual behaviors, prevention, follow up sexual relation and intercourse.
