Introduction
Competency is the combination of observable and measurable knowledge, skills, abilities and personal attributes that contribute to enhanced employee performance and ultimately result in organizational success. To understand competencies, it is important to define the various components of competencies.
An easy definition of competency is that it is something you need to be able to do well in a specific job role. The term "competence" came into vogue following R.W. White’s 1959 Psychological Review article, “Motivation Reconsidered: The Concept of Competence.” White explains that because people are intrinsically motivated to achieve competence, having competency models

A competency is broken down into specific skills or tasks. Next, each skill or task can be described in terms of what it looks like—specific behaviors at different levels of proficiency. To achieve competence in a particular job, a person should be able to perform various tasks or skills at a target proficiency level.

Introduction
A method or plan chosen to bring about a desired future, such as achievement of a goal or solution to a problem. It is the art and science of planning and marshaling resources for their most efficient and effective use. The term is derived from the Greek word for generalship or leading an army.
Strategy has been studied for years by business leaders and by business theorists. Yet, there is no definitive answer about what strategy really is.
One reason for this is that people think about strategy in different ways.
For instance, some people believe that you must analyze the present carefully, anticipate changes in your market or industry, and, from this, plan how you'll succeed in the future. Meanwhile, others think that the future is just too difficult to predict, and they prefer to evolve their strategies
Documented in an employee survey (2012) conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employees (NACE) the belief by many of the employers surveyed set a number of employee competencies they felt were essential. The findings resulted in a list of capabilities they felt were needed in order to proficiently desired by organizations. Effective verbal articulation within and outside of the organization’s structure, a team player that will a readily work with others, an administrator and convergent thinker, obtain and process data, while planning, organizing, and prioritizing work.
Employability skills means a group of essential abilities that involve the development of a knowledge base, expertise level and mind-set that is increasingly necessary for success in the modern workplace.
The core competency is a unique characteristic which cannot be easily replicated by competitors. It is defined as the main strengths or strategic advantages of a business. Core competencies are the combination of knowledge, ability, and expertise which contributes to continue growth of the organization and the commitment to deliver value to the customers. Therefore, core competence in healthcare is essential; it is the bridge to quality of care, opportunities for developing and improving skills to be successful.
Strategy is not easily defined and furthermore the term is not exclusively related to just the business world. We can confidently say strategy is key to survival, not only in business but also in the animal kingdom. All animals under go a process of constant change in their physical appearance and in their behaviour. These changes take place over millions of years and the species that survive, do so because throughout their evolution they have perfected certain strategies that have enabled them to develop more successfully in the environment they inhabit. One such case of this successful development is the great hammerhead shark.

Core competencies are the capabilities that are critical to a business achieving competitive advantage. The starting point for analysing core competencies is recognising that competition between businesses is as much a race for competence mastery as it is for market position and market power. Strategy can be defined as being different from one’s competitors, finding the race to operate and accomplished it. According to Michael Porter (1996), while becoming better at what you do is desirable, it will not benefit you in the long run because it is something other competitors can also do. Strategies for organizations are originally developed by Michael E. Porter in 1979 by introducing the five forces model. A company can identify the industry profitability and attractiveness by analyzing the five forces of Porter (Johnson et al., 2008). Alfred Chandler(1963) defines strategy as ‘ the determination of the long-run goals and objectives of an enterprise and the adoption of courses of action of an enterprise and the adoption of courses of action and the allocation of resources necessary for carrying out these goals’. And Michael porter(1996) sees it as ‘Competitive strategy is about being different. It means deliberately choosing different set of activities to deliver a unique mix of value’.
Competencies can be used to provide the behaviours needed at work to achieve the business strategy, and enable organisations to form a model of the kinds of employee it wishes to attract through recruitment.
Core competencies are set of skills, expertise and professionalism which the service is executed (Johnston & Clark 2001). They make a firm to stand apart and develop a competitive advantage.

The ability and strength of an individual to achieve goals by supervising processes, guiding initiatives and employees is defined as Leadership skills. Valuable leadership skills include taking thoughtful decisions, allocation of resources, and the ability to delegate, inspire and communicate effectively. Other leadership traits include honesty, confidence, commitment and creativity.
