Nice to meet you. Years ago, I was stationed as an Army Recruiter way down in Houma - the southern most Army recruiting station in Louisiana. The food was great, but I admit that the heat and humidity reminded me of Florida. One thing I did find interesting was the cultural differences down in the Bayou Country. Cajuns, Creoles and everything in between. I have no doubt a cultural anthropologist could obtain plenty of research material in that area! It rather shocked me that part of my welcome briefing at my recruiting station included information on voodoo and hoodoo. Naturally the Army was not condoning the practices, but trying to instill an understanding among the new recruiters that people within the local population do hold those beliefs.
Variant is an action-filled, suspenseful and shocking novel written by the American novelist, Robison Wells. The book is about a foster child named Benson Fisher, who applies to Maxfield Academy in hopes to live a normal life. Unfortunately, Maxfield turns out to be far from normal. He, along with the other seventy students are trapped in a school, with no teachers, adults, or any sort of authority. The students run the school, with the help of “Iceman” who was only ever seen and heard on a television screen, he gave out the punishments.
Napoleon offered to give France back the Louisiana territory. However, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison did not want the French to colonize the Western and Northern Territories. Jefferson offered to buy New Orleans from the French to prevent the French from future colonization of US territories. Napoleon Bonaparte suggested for Spain to give the entire Louisiana Territory back to France. Once Spain gave up the Territory to France, Jefferson immediately offered to buy New Orleans to prevent them from future colonization.
Texas can begin to respond to it’s ever-growing population by expanding its infrastructure. In essence, building more roads/ bridges and efficiently organizing new pipelines and electrical grids. In the past, Texas has been recognized to embrace more of an individualistic political culture. However, in southern Texas, traditionalistic political culture is dominant. Having these two different political cultures will make it difficult for any progress towards the increasing demands because they represent different ideas. The individualists culture believes the government should make advances in society while having little intervention with the public. Traditionalistic culture believes the government should focus on maintaining the status quo
Baton Rouge is the capital of the American state of Louisiana. With a population of 228,895 residents and a wider metropolitan area of 820,159, it is the second largest city in the state. After Austin and Tallahassee, Baton Rouge is the third southernmost capital city in the continental United States. Situated on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River, about 30 miles upstream from New Orleans and 65 miles from the coast, Baton Rouge lies upon the Istrouma Bluff. Because of its favorable location, which prevents seasonal flooding, the French established the city as a military fort in 1719. The name of the city, however, dates back to 1699, when a French expedition led by Pierre le Moyne noticed a red pole marking the borderline between two
African-Americans have created a unique cultural tradition from African and European influences in Louisiana. However, religion to medical care also language. African-rooted traditions were transformed in Louisiana to form a vibrant ethnic culture. With them, African slaves brought their cultural identities languages, religions, oral traditions, and became evident in Louisiana. Perhaps the most flamboyant of these, continuities are seen in religion, particularly Voodoo.
Katy, Texas is a town with abundant cultural diversity due to an overwhelming amount of people moving here from all over world to work in the energy industry. Only a small minority of the population was born and raised here making it among the most diverse places in the nation. Living and working as a grocery store cashier here has allowed me to interact with a variety of people in this unique melting pot, which presents an array of obstacles.
Within occupied south Louisiana citizens were torn in their loyalties, goals, and visions for the future. Since The city fell early and did not suffer from Battle, most citizens were not driven by fear to want in into the war. They refused to give up hope for a southern victory and thus were cautious to contribute with Union forces. It was very hard for the African-Americans to live in Louisiana at first, after the civil war it got way easier. Before the Civil War, Louisiana was a major slave state. In 1860, 47% of the population was in slavery. However Louisiana also had one of the largest free black populations in the United States.

Using the Hofstede model of comparison, I will be comparing the culture of my home country, that is, the Republic of Benin and the United States of America. First, I will do a little background of Benin and the USA. Benin is located in West Africa and is in between Togo and Nigeria. Its official language is French mainly because it was colonized by France during the colonial period. Its population is 10 million and it is considered a developing country. On the other hand, the USA is located in North America. Some of its neighbors are Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas. Its population is 321 million and English is its official language. The USA economy is the world's largest national economy. The location, population, national language and
Louisiana has one of the most culturally diverse areas on earth, with respect to “SoLa,” or Southern Louisiana. New Orleans was the birthplace of Jazz, and is full of great culture from people who have developed unique traditions that are special to New Orleans. Not is the culture diverse, the wetlands contain some of the most diverse ecosystems in North America. With 40% of America’s wetlands in SoLa, the area is very unique when compared to many other places in the US. Along with the uniqueness in culture and environment, the practices of the politicians and industries may be unique due to the questionable practices of the politicians and companies. The problems described in the film for Louisiana seem to be quite unique, but after some thought, the problems are almost universal to most of the modern world.
Concept number one that defines the objective of the article is ethnic minority groups. As this group is defined as primarily due to cultural differences. As cultural difference between Mexico and Texans hope to convert the new theory of the republic was slavery permission.
