The example of the major dissimilarity is the characters. In the novel, “A guy name Maestro Mantoli known as Enrico Mantoli, was murdered in the middle of a highway,” (pg. 9). He is a composer that came to the town of Wells to perform. Though in the movie the victim's name is Philip Colbert who is a wealthy industrialist man that constructs a factory in the town of Sparta, and his body was found in an alley. Additionally, in the film some characters were taken out, such as, Duena, Erik Kauffman, and Ms. Endicott, also some characters like Charlie, Shagbag, Mrs. Colbert, and Henry were added in, that wasn’t from the book.
Some things are different in the book and movie. Like Sunset Towers and Money in both versions. Sunset towers is luxurious in the book but a bad place to live downtown. The money the will was worth 200 million but in the movie it is worth 20 million. Another difference is that the Wexlers moved to Sunset Towers because they had no money, but in the book they moved because they had money. In the movie Jake Wexler is paying off his debt though they have money in the book. Jake Wexler is a
There are many differences and similarities. As I read the book, Johnny Tremain, I thought it would be nice to watch the movie. As I watched it, I noticed that the film had many differences from the book. All the ideas from the movie are based on ideas from the book. Most of what is in the book was rewritten as the opposite.
Differences (stick with at least four)- Ponyboy has a good relationship with sodapop and gets along better with darry but still has a very good relationship with his brother. In the beginning of the book, Pony gets jumped by some Socs, but he doesn’t get cut with a knife. In the movie, they cut him. In the movie when ponyboy is talking to cherry he says how the sun on the south side and she says”good how bout the north.” In the book it's written west and east. Also in the movie johnny never got his first beating from the soc in the book he does. In the book it gave more detail and information in the movie it starts like in mid way of the book.
While some of the events are not the same, a majority of the differences are tiny details. For example, in the book Socrates has a photo of Theresa, his ex-girlfriend, hanging in his kitchen by the window. In the picture, Theresa is wearing a red dress but in the movie she is in a white dress. The book also tells the reader that Socrates spent twenty-seven years in prison and was released eight years ago; in the movie; he only served eighteen years and had only been out for ten months.
Another main difference is the setting and the props that are used in the two similar, and yet so different adaptations of the same play. According to the earlier version, the book is set in Verona, a city in Italy, whereas in the movie, it is much more modernised, developed and seemingly set in the USA. In the more recent edition, the weaponry used are guns, whereas they are swords in the deep-rooted adaptation. Additionally, there are various methods of technology used in the more up to date version of the play, although there are hardly any at all in Zeffirelli’s edition. One final difference in this particular category is the
Here are some differences with the characters. Meg one of the main character's in the book has glasses and braces, but in the movie she doesn't have braces or glasses. Another main character is Charles-Walace and in the book he is five, doesn't go to school, and can't read, but in the movie he is six go's to school, and can read well. These are the differences
For instance, in the book Joppy knew Albright; Albright knew Todd Carter; Todd Carter knew Richard McGee as well as Matthew Terrell whereas in the movie every character denied knowing each other except Albright and Joppy. Another noticeable difference is that in the book Frank Green, Daphne’s brother ends up murdered and in the movie he lives and they both end up moving. The third noticeable difference is a character name change from the book to the movie; Matthew Teran in the book is Matthew Terrell in the movie and he ends up being murdered in the book whereas at the end of the movie he’s running for mayor. A fourth noticeable difference is the pier scene. In the book Albright and Easy meet at the Santa Monica pier and in the movie it is the Malibu pier. And the last most noticeable difference between the book and the movie is that Mouse knows Daphne Monet or shall we call her by her real name Ruby Hanks; however, in the movie the audience never finds that out. In the movie the only true thing you get to know about Daphne is that she is both black and white. Therefore, due to the many differences between the book and the movie it is confusing to the audience since it is almost like dealing with two different stories because of the plot inconsistencies.
Foremost, it is very recognizable that the overall flow of the story is same, but most of the plot events are not the same. Though, there were same events happening in both novel and the movie. For example, in both
In the novel the setting of the story takes place in a small town named Castle Rock that is located in Maine in the year 1960 and in the film the setting is Castle Rock, Oregon in 1959. This difference would be considered a minor change because it is only one year apart from the original date in the novel and the change of the state does not really matter. Adding to differences is that in the novel in chapter seven there is a story that is told by Gordie called “Stud City’ in the film it is not shown or mentioned. This would be considered a major change because the story shows how smart and mature Gordie is for a twelve year old and it is important for the build up of the character but it is excluded from the film. Another difference is that in the novel when the boys find the body and they confront the other boys Chris pulls the gun out to make them leave.
The plot and the setting of book and movie are very similar. There was a lot of thins borrowed from the book, but there was a lot changed as well. The movie followed the plot of book very closely and portrayed the setting of the book very well. A lot of the dialogue was borrowed and spoken directly as it was in the book.
The historical Jesus Research according to the textbook shows four criteria of Authenticity and they are the following listed below: (Page 152)
The Setting was the major part that I looked out for. The similarities I found was the movie theatre, the park, and most importantly the church. In the novel, the setting was shown when the greasers when to the theatre as said in the novel. Similarly, in the movie, this was also illustrated. The park was another location that was similar in terms of both, as the action took place and the fight. Lastly, the church was likewise shown. It was well described and “old”, and in the movie, the church was shown in the context and the fire scene. The fire scene was well shown, as the kids were there stuck, teachers yelling and all. Moving on, there were a couple of differences regarding the setting. It was said that Soda pop worked at the patrol station
Even though the film was based off of the book; there were some key differences between the two. This will be pointing out some of the many similarities and differences from the book and the film. Specifically,
To begin with, a majority of the characters in the novel are slightly different than in the film. An example of an character differing would be Daisy. In the novel and in the film Daisy was wearing all white. She looked blissful and beautiful. She was thought to be desperate and careless because of her recent actions
The movie and book was way different. They talked the same and were word for word at some parts. The biggest difference was the timeline. The book took place in the past and the movie took place in the modern time. When the movie started to talk i was thinking about the horses they were going to be riding but wasn't I not wrong there was cars everywhere.
