Hero vs Evil
The idea of good and evil presented in Beowulf is hard to capture, by the things he does. He is an idea of a not humble hero. Everyone wants to be hero of the story and being the center of attention. Who doesn’t want to feel respected or looked up too? Compared to other heroes he wasn’t chosen for the job, he does it to get something out of it.
He doesn’t have the quality of being modest, putting the needs of another person before your own. In the story he makes the people think he does, but in reality he just likes how society gives him attention and consideration for it. He always likes drawing attention to himself, and he believes that he is always right. When he heard that he had the chance to be the hero in the story, he immediately jumped in a boat and moved. They have some good and some bad. The generations changes, how we look at things, difference of opinions between one generation and another regarding views, politics, or values. When you think about hero’s generation now, you think about catwoman, superwoman or bad man and they didn’t decide to be there. They were chosen to be there. They are an example of modest heroes. When they fight or protected people, they didn't expect nothing back. Compared to old hero generation like Beowulf it’s different. Beowulf is someone arrogant and way to confident about himself. He is not a humble hero. He is an outsider and comes in and knows that the king has problems with Grendel. He risk it all and says "I going to kill him" "I going to be the hero" to the king. He doesn’t have a thought in his mind that he is going to lose to him. He just comes and he takes it, without anyone telling him. That’s the part of the beliefs of that time. The people around him aren’t suppose to dislike him; they value that, because that's the culture. That's how they value
