Fate or Free Will?
Macbeth had a tragic fall and for centuries it has been debated on whether he died because of free will or if he died because of the fate that the witches gave him. People often wonder if what the witches said was meant to get Macbeth to want to be king and ultimately get him killed. Others believe that Macbeth’s greed had nothing to do with the witches; they believe that he had just been driven by what the witches had said, and he had his own choice of whether he was to continue with it or not. His fall is often up for debate when it comes to why he died. Macbeth’s death was either fate, influenced by the witches, or was by his own free will.

In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, there is a question as to whether or not Macbeth is driven by fate or free will. The three weird sisters approach Macbeth with prophecies that will all come true in the end. It would appear that Macbeth is just following destiny at first. However, Macbeth always had a choice throughout the play to choose his own fate. Macbeth journeyed to his murderous doom through his own free choice.
Finally, Macbeth is responsible for his death and downfall because of his actions and free will. Throughout Macbeth's life, he had free will, and one quote that stood out to me was when he was talking to King Duncan. He shows his free will by saying, "I am settled, and he bends each corporal agent to this terrible feat. Away, and mock the time with the fairest show: the false face must hide what the false heart does not know

Fate and free will, the belief that humans are either toys to the universe or are in full control of their destiny.
Free will or fate, which rules the future? Fate by definition is the development of events beyond a person’s control. Free will is the ability to act on one’s own discretion. In Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth. Macbeth’s free will means he makes his own poor choices that leads to his downfall.
In the story Macbeth, Shakespeare plays the puppet master. He uses witches as a connection between the supernatural and human world. Macbeth is initially described as a valiant and supposedly loyal warrior for his king Duncan. However this quickly changes as the plot unfolds. The witches show a mirror image of Macbeth’s future to Macbeth himself and this is when his true identity begins to emerge. The actions he carries out lead him to power as a king but also to his death. Through this Shakespeare manage to implant a key question in the readers’ minds: what determined Macbeth’s fate? Throughout the play, Shakespeare prompts the audience is contemplate whether Macbeth’s decisions were fated or of free will. One prime example is in Act 2, Scene 1, when Macbeth sees the dagger that eventually become a premonition to Duncan’s murder. Although the witches spoke of a prophecy that Macbeth will become king, they never specify the specific details of the process. It is Macbeth himself, not the witches, who come to the conclusion that in order for him to become king, it is necessary to kill Duncan. It is highly likely that Macbeth became obsessed with the act of murder that his mind started creating false hallucinations.
Everything changed when Macbeth decided to commit his first murder against Duncan. Malcolm and Donalbain decided to flee Scotland and go to different countries. Although they were not forced by anyone to leave the country, leaving was their free will: What should be spoken here, Where our fate, Hid in an auger-hole, may rush and seize us? Let’s away.

In the play Macbeth, the main character, Macbeth, have been praised for the good man he was, but still betrayed those who praised him with his own will. He was a great man with a great mind, however, not until the words of him becoming king came out of the weird sisters, which are also known as the three witches who predicted and told Macbeth that he will be king, and have made him have second thoughts on whether to kill the king to be king or not. Fate and Free Will in Macbeth In the tragedy “Macbeth” William Shakespeare introduces the struggle of balancing the concept of fate and free will. He does this through the connection between the concept and the character Macbeth. Initially introduced as an honorable warrior, Macbeths ambition to fulfill his so-called “pre-determined” fate causes his downfall. The tragic transformation of the character can be linked to the struggles of fate, and the consequences of free will. Although both fate and free will played a role, it leaves the audience questioning whether Macbeth was more a victim of fate, or his own consequences.
I have always believed that everyone chooses their own destiny & that no one can make you do anything you do not want to do. For this reason, I consider Macbeth to be the maker of his own demise due to his ambitious ways and lack of courage. However, I do not ignore that both the witches and Lady Macbeth did influence Macbeth’s decisions at first. Nevertheless, the choice of killing the King, his best friend and MacDuff’s entire family was ultimately his.
Macbeth decided go against his predetermined fate prophesized by the three weird sisters, and killed Duncan at his own free will due to his desire for power, and his impulsiveness to become King of Scotland.

Macbeth had made many outstanding decisions and some fatal decisions during his lifetime that had affected his destiny. One fatal decision that Macbeth made was when he chose to kill duncan even though he was persuaded by Lady Macbeth. He would have been an honored man if he would have let fate take its course. This could have been prevented by Macbeth waiting. Macbeth at the front of the ended war had been confronted by the three witches. Therefore, Macbeth had no control over his own fate.
