Justice is defined as a just behavior or treatment. Justice is littered throughout The
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, a novel engrossed in justice or injustice of the Congo or more specifically the Price family during their trip to the Congo. Nathan
Price shows specific examples of justice and injustice throughout this work.
Nathan Price himself is the personification of Justice, however he is very reckless with his family and his ways. In the Bible there is a verse in Hebrews “For we know him who said, ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ and again, ‘The Lord judge his people.” Nathan

He goes by any means, even losing his family to keep his goal and promise to the Lord.
Nathan Price before being a preacher was in the military, where all of his battalion was killed except for him, he alone was spared. Nathan is the only one in the Price Family not to narrate a section of the book, we learn his backstory, before the Congo and before the children and even the revelation to be a preacher, through Orleana, his wife.
This woman that he has been truly unjust too. He eventually makes her hate him. But
Nathan Price feels that he is just by trying to bring as many people to salvation as possible, it is his calling, when the Lord spared him in the Great War, he learned God’s salvation and kindness and made a promise to the Lord and fears the Lord, he refuses to back down from his task because of his fear of the Lord. He is the personification of justice based on him wanting to liberate the Congo to the greatness of the Lord. He is met with several obstacles to oppose his search for justice and righteousness.
God has sent Nathan Price on a mission to bring spiritual justice to the Con go. He finds his strength to do this feat through God. In Job another book from the Bible it says, “ He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings utter darkness into light.”
Nathan Price is bringing the darkness, or in this case the Congo, into the light,
Christianity. This task is not easy and utterly drives him insane making his family lose faith in him as well as in God. Nathan Price feels that justice is directly correlated with salvation. He is exposing the unjust things in the Congo such as the witch doctors and the unjust treatment of others. He tries desperately to bring Christianity and salvation into this area. He is trying to justify his actions through his work.
He is outrageous and unjust with his family by trying to justify his work and boldness in his missionary work. Nathan Price sacrifices himself and his family's safety in order to ring salvation and justice to the Congo. However NAthan thinks that he is
