Aunt Alexandra´s visits to Atticus's house and her gender view towards Scout. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the trial in the novel is one of the most important incidents that takes place in the text. It is very important to our understanding of the text as a whole as it shows the racial discrimination in that time period of the 1920 – 1930’s and how society in the 20th century has improved and has become more accepting of different races throughout the world as a whole. In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, the theme is don’t judge someone according to their race. Scout learns that you can be prejudice about race. Scout said, “if there is just one kind of folk, why can’t they get along.” This proves my theme because if you don’t judge someone then there can only be one kind of person and we will all get along. If there is only one kind of person then why can’t everyone get along? Scout finds out that everyone makes mistakes. Judge Taylor said “there is not a person in this courtroom that hasn’t told a lie. Everyone messes up sometime in their life so Judge Taylor is saying everyone is equal. Everyone is equal. “There is one way in this country in which all men are created equal.” This quote supports my theme

The setting of the book takes place in the 1930s, where racism is a big deal in society. In the novel Harper Lee uses a mockingbird as an analogy to the characters. The Mockingbird is a symbol for Three Characters in the book, Atticus Finch, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley. The people of Maycomb only know Boo Radley and Tom Robinson by what others say about them. These Characters are then characterized by other people 's viewpoints. In the novel there are many themes that are adjacent to our lives, the one that is found in To Kill A Mockingbird is Human Conflict comes from the inability for one to understand another. “ You never understand a person until you consider things from his point of view- until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” (39)

She builds an argument through the character of Atticus. Maycomb is a town with racism and Atticus, a lawyer from Maycomb, defends Tom Robinson in the court. Harper Lee uses convincing elements, clear facts, and she arouses negative feelings from jury to support her argument.
Others’ opinions affect one’s emotions. A human's natural instinct is to defend themselves by judging another person’s characteristics. Everybody in the world will assess people based on the criteria they wish to see within one another, and when they do not meet their expectations their opinion of others can become negative .
