Introduction
“The Blind Side” is a movie based on a true-life story of how Michael Oher goes through the difficulties in his life before he becomes one of the best defensive players of the NFL football team. Growing up in a broken family; where he had a drug-addicted mother, the father being in the prison and he, himself was always going in and out of the foster homes, as the audience, we all probably have already expected what will happen to this young man. However, if we choose to give up on ourselves in the middle of the journey just because we have low self-esteem and do not believe that others can support us, we can never be successful. Motivation in general is the drive to do something. There are two types of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation refers to the action done for the sake of enjoyment (Study.com, n. d.). The action is done simply because we like the activity and not for other outcomes. In intrinsic motivation, people do it just because they find it fun and enjoyable. For instance, Leigh Anne was known for her commitment to the less fortunate. She had been doing charity simply because she wanted to and not because of profit or any other repayment.
Extrinsic motivation refers to the performance of an action to obtain an outcome (Study.com, n. d.). Motivation can be described as the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. Motivations have two subsets: intrinsic and extrinsic, I am more intrinsically motivated which means I participate mainly for the pleasure and for myself.
