The definition of absolute is having total power or authority. The rights that people are given are not absolute because every situation is different. The rights have to be altered based on the situations, people, and safety. Within the Constitution, it limits individuals rights. For example, within the first amendment, it grants people the freedom of speech. However, a person cannot yell “Bomb!” within an airport and not suffer from some sort of consequence. This is because of the terror it has caused to people and the terror that the person really does see or have a bomb. It could potentially jeopardize the citizen's safety within the airport. This is an example of rights not being absolute because the 4th amendment stated within the Bill of Rights state that people have the right to be “secure in their houses, papers, and effects.” This means that the people have the right to remain within their homes. Some people agree with the actions the government imposed because it protected the people from danger. However, some people viewed it as a violation of the 4th amendment because a government cannot force someone to evacuate off of their property and homes. I think that recommending the citizens to evacuate is reasonable because it combines both of the arguments into a compromise. The government would neither be forcing or viewed as oblivious to the situation present. Therefore, the people have the right to choose what is best for them.
