The First Lady Michelle Obama has delivered a speech on October 13, 2016. Mrs. Obama speech was about the opportunities young people have and the challenges young females face. Michelle Obama is also giving the speech to persuade people not to vote for Trump because of how disrespectful and disregarding he is to women. Michelle obama used different rhetorical appeals during her speech. Michelle used lots of emotions and persuasive language to connect with the audience in front of her.
Pathos is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an emotional response. For an example Michelle says, “Strong men who are truly role models don't need to put down women to make themselves feel powerful"(Obama, 2016). This is an example of pathos because it is using emotion towards something that is being done to females. She is trying to get men to stop doing what they are doing to women by using emotion to show how hurtful it actually is. The emotion she is getting at is pride which men have a lot of. This affects the audience because it's going to show the men they need to change and being rude to women isn’t right.

With all the techniques she has used they were very effective and persuasive to the audience. Her speech made a difference in many people's life that day because she connected to women mainly. She could relate to the audience a lot because they were adults with children which she has and she goes through things like a normal parent also she gives a lot of advice that can help with the problems the children are having or even the adults. With Michelle Obama being the first lady the speech was very important and effective but if it was someone else the certain points wouldn’t have got across the way she did it. Michelle Obama has a lot of respect and she is a role model to some women in the world so that's a perfect reason the speech was
