The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald is about the American Dream that is unattainable and social commentary . The novel takes place in New York where Nick Carraway , the narrator, moves to from Minnesota. There he meets Jay Gatsby who you soon find out is in love with Nicks’ cousin, Daisy. In the novel there are many scenes between Gatsby and Daisy where they rekindle their love. Gatsby has been in love with Daisy for about five years, in between those five years Daisy married Tom Buchanan. There’s a scene in the novel where Myrtle, Toms’ lover, gets hit by a car and soon is announced dead.
