“Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.” This is a quote from the book The Outsiders, in which Johnny was telling Ponyboy not to mature, and to keep his “golden” qualities. There are many things that can make a person gold. The traits of my personality that make me gold are how considerate I am, my ambition, and how appreciative I am. Consideration is a precious quality because life is difficult and everyone deserves for someone to be kind to them. Having consideration towards others, and being compassionate to others is precious because we need more kindness in this world because everyone wants to be treated with respect and kindness, and people will treat you how you treat them. My definition of consideration is being thoughtful and kind to others.
In the song "Stay Gold" by Stevie Wonder, it describes how everything that you see will pass away some time. For instance, there is one of the lyrics that illustrates the perspective of this song: "You thought that all would last forever, but like the weather, nothing can ever... be in time to stay gold."
The humans’ nature is always following other people without thinking. People are afraid to be different from others. When some people or some groups of people trying to be unique and different like the Hippies people will think they are disgusted. This is because power of conformity is very strong in the society. In every big city or even small town influence of the conformity were shown up. In The Outsiders, conformity is everywhere in this small town which is located in the south of U.S. Tulsa, Oklahoma. In this story are all about Greasers and Socials. The conformity in this story is showed up by the symbols that are described personality and social class of the characters in the story. In this story the conformity shows up mostly by the symbol.
Who do you think is a hero or has shown heroism through their life. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy’s interests and behavior contrasts his gang. For example, he hates to fight unless he has to, unlike his friends who fight for the fun of it or because everyone is doing it. Though he is the oddball of the group he still displayed great heroism throughout the book. In S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders, Ponyboy displays many heroic traits and is a risk-taker. He shows great courage, his personality, and his actions are respected by many people.
Imagine being separated into two different groups based on what side of town one lives on and what one wears, then imagine having to act a certain way when one feels a whole different way. In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, there are two groups, Socs and the Greasers, they have a rivalry with each other; the Greasers are known for having bad reputations that will never go anywhere in life and are poor, while the Socs can be disrespectful to the community, but an asset to the community the next day, and with a lot of money. In the novel, S.E. Hinton includes Robert Frost’s poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” to focus on the poem’s deeper meaning. When examining Robert Frost’s “Nothing Gold Can Stay” and S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders, one can analyze the usage of color, lost of innocence, and identity change.
One very important virtue includes prudence, the virtue that disposes us to see rightly, the way things are in the world around us, and to employ that truthful vision to act rightly. It enables
Part of you is being slowly chipped away, the more and more you live life the less and less you have of it and you don't even know it. “Nothing Gold Can Stay” is a poem by Robert Frost that uses nature to represent innocence in a person. The Outsiders is about a boy named Ponyboy and his gang the Greasers dealing with bullying, deaths, and life threatening situations that chips away at their personalities. In the Poem “Nothing gold can stay” by Robert Frost and The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton the theme innocence is portrayed in similar ways.
“Tall elm trees made the park shadowy and dark, and it would have been a good hangout, but we preferred our vacant lot” (Hinton, 47) After reading this quotation, the reader will have been set in time and place. In The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton uses a profound description of the setting to establish mood in the text to provide readers the “feeling” of the story. In a novel such as The Outsiders, it is of major importance that the author establishes the setting and mood for the novel’s plot to develop. This is where setting marries mood in a story.
In the story The Outsiders, there is many life lessons that could help many people. Ranging from the people you hang out with, to people who need your help. You should always treat people how you want to be treated, even if that means giving something up. The main character, Ponyboy, experiences certain events in the story that makes you realize that these kind of conflicts are a reality. Ponyboy lives with his two brothers, Darry and Soda. Their parents died in a car crash. Ponyboy never realized how much his parents did for him. There is a “Gang” that Ponyboy is involved in called the Greasers. Their rival “Gang” is called the Socs. The Socs are kids that have a better upbringing and are more of rich kids. The Greasers are basically the opposite. The theme of this story is don’t take the things you have for granted.
“Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold...” These were the last words uttered by Johnny Cade, a hoodlum who was scared of his own shadow. He was one of the main characters in a book called the Outsiders. The Outsiders is a novel by S. E. Hinton.
The phrase “stay gold” is used to say even threw the worst of times you must always stay gold and stay yourself. In The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, “stay gold” is a big theme and represents something big; In Pony’s life he has gone through a lot and is a very different kid from the rest of the
The book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton and the poem “Nothing Gold can Stay” by Robert Frost are both great pieces of writing. The Outsiders is about a boy named Ponyboy who is in a gang called greasers. They don't get along with the socs, so along in the book it leads him on an adventure to think. The poem Nothing Gold can Stay is about enjoying natures beauty. S.E Hinton and Robert Frost use theme to engage their readers.
One of these themes is stay gold or otherwise stay young and innocent. “When you’re a kid everythings new, dawn. Like the way you dig sunsets Pony. That’s gold.” In this quote Johnny explains how when you’re a kid and innocent everything is new and good.
I have read The Outsiders, written by S.E. Hinton, and “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost. The Outsiders is about a group of boys that are really poor and they get in a whole lot of trouble, and their hair is what they consider the best part of being a greaser. The poem is exactly how it sounds, it is about how the first leaf dropped by a tree is the most precious, but eventually fades away.
The traits that make me gold are helpfulness, trustworthy, and my sense of humor. When Johnny says ‘’stay gold’’ to Ponyboy I think of ‘’staying gold’’ as being the best you can be and help the people that are in need of being helped. Also don’t be a follower and just be yourself do what you think is right not what the other people think what’s right.
I see compassion as the ability to set your own emotions and beliefs aside to understand how another is feeling from their point of view. I consider myself to have this trait because I constantly trying to see how others are feeling so that I can be considerate. I also value relationships more than anything. I would rather spend a day at the park with loving friends than win the lottery. I am glad that I’m compassionate since I believe that it is extremely critical in being able to connect with others. I wasn’t always compassionate though. As a child, I was selfish and didn’t care about anyone, but myself. Over time, I’ve learned how important it is to care for others as well as yourself.
