CHAPTER 3
TEACHERING-LEARNING BASED OPTIMIZATION (TLBO)
3.1 Teaching –Learning Based Optimization: An overview
Teaching –learning-based optimization (TLBO) is a newly introduced by R.V. Rao in NIT-surat. It is an evolutionary optimization algorithm that inspired from teaching –learning phenomenon of a classroom. It is a novel population based algorithm with faster convergence speed without any algorithm – specific parameters. In TLBO each potential problem is treated as a learner with certain knowledge. The TLBO consist of two phases Teacher phase and Learner phase, in both phases learner improves their knowledge from teacher (in teacher phase) and also from classmates (in learner phase).
In section 3.2 Teacher-learning based optimization is described, Section 3.3 discusses the Teacher-learning based optimization, Section 3.4 describes the flow of Teacher-learning based optimization with the help of Flow Chart and finally section 3.5 concluded the chapter.

Inspired by the teaching - learning process in the classroom. It is a population –based evolutionary computer algorithm that modeled on transferring knowledge in the classroom and use student result to proceed on global solution. TLBO does not need any specific parameters; it only requires common controlling parameters like population size and number of generations, so it is called parameter less optimization algorithm. TLBO is divided into two phases: ‘Teacher Phase’ and ‘Learner Phase’. In Teacher phase learners gain knowledge from teacher and then Learner also gain knowledge from their classmates by mutual interaction, group-discussion etc. in ‘Learning
Planning and preparation of teaching is supremely important, the teacher and teaching assistant need to work together to achieve the best learning result. Lesson plans and structures will be implemented and will be catered for each learner; they will include teaching methods and techniques, assessments and targets. Teachers have policies, procedures and regulations to adhere to and within organisations will have to take into consideration budgets and resources.
Before the session will commence, teacher will be involved in planning learning. This process involves creating the session plan, resources and activities needed to perform the subject. On very occasions
Every teacher has its own way of selecting and developing a technique for teaching and may draw various experiences to get the attention of the students. This is called teaching methodology or pedagogy. The teaching methodology facilitates the learning process of the students. The students become productive if
A Teacher is then responsible to plan the lessons in such a way that it meets all the students’ needs, ensuring that learners are on the right program and follow company policies and procedures.
One of the teacherâ€TMs role within the school is to plan, monitor and assess the achievement of children. The lesson plans need to be set so what the children are learning is in line with the
Organisation of the lesson: the entry, structuring, and closure of the lesson. Teacher’s time management: allotment of time to different activities during the lesson.
Students have their own best way in effectively learning the lesson. With the diversity of students, the problem is each student has a preferred learning style. It becomes undeniably one of the reasons that make it difficult to achieve the best expected outcome out of teachers’ effort. However, teachers try to incorporate various teaching techniques to make every learning opportunity become productive, meaningful, and relevant for the learners.
The teacher plans instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals.
This strategy will be implemented at the teachers’ discretion, based upon the resources available and also the students learning styles/ needs.
It is important to decide at an early stage on the most appropriate teaching method for each candidate, to enable every candidate to achieve their learning goal in the easiest way possible. Some candidates will not respond well to classroom style teaching and may require one to one assistance for them to develop, others may develop their understanding better through demonstration or through explanations given by the tutor.
Many educators operate their classrooms using a “learning theory” that they feel optimizes the best learning environment for their students. As an educator it is very important to create your own customized learning theory to use in your classroom. A customized learning theory is developed to create an optimum learning environment for students. Educators have to research and put into practice the ideas that they feel may work best in their classroom. In this paper, I will be discussing my own customized learning theory incorporating theoretical perspectives that I believe make an ideal learning environment.
This skill is important for student learning development, because of finding effective strategies enhance faculty and staff to work together to meet organization goal that improve student learning. Moreover, that’s lead to spend time on problem identification and build an effective solution to evolve student learning. Faculty and staff are significant key work for student learning improvement.
There is always room for improvement in the punctuality of turning in progress notes, but I can happily report that I turned in all progress notes within 24 hours of the session. My psychology classes helped me develop correct writing skills and to be professional and respectful (i.e. using “children with ASD” instead of “autistic kids”). My current psychology class has taught me how impactful behavior modification is with children with ASD, and how recording data on their progress and implementing positive reinforcement helps them immensely.
There are many theories that are relevant to classroom teaching today. Marsh (2008, p. 17) states that “each theory is nothing more than a set of reasonable suggestions”. A teacher should look at the information available to them and take what is necessary to achieve a positive learning environment in their classroom. This may mean taking a little part of one theory and combining in with another part of a different theory, there is no singular theory or theorist that encompasses everything that is required in a modern classroom. Some of the most important theories of learning are motivation, constructivism and behaviourism. Teachers choose their teaching style and strategy to complement their students, to arrive at their own personal
e-Learning is a catch-all term that covers a wide range of instructional material that can be delivered on a CD-ROM or DVD, over a local area network (LAN), or on the Internet. It includes Computer-Based Training (CBT), Web-Based Training (WBT), Electronic Performance Support Systems (EPSS), distance or online learning and online tutorials. The major advantage to students is its easy access. There
