Abstract
In this essay we will show the difference of doctrine and theology. Showing the differences that can be used in a church or Christian community. Where the scriptures show that it is truly God's word which was inspired by the spirit of God,. We use theology to study all the works of God, the things he said and did. But we have to have the doctrine that is the true word of God. So we use theology to help prove the doctrine is true and this has to be done by studying the history he has given us. Theology and doctrine go hand in hand, we can not have one without the other.

Doctrinal work is what a person uses to informs them about the cognitive content of faith, then theological work studies and deliberates about it. Catechetical is a doctrinal work and cathartic is a theological work. Cathartic is used in relation to our physical or psychological needs. Lets look at cathartic as being a medicine to that helps with the emptying of the bowels. This is were we need to bring to the surface any fears, problems, and complexes in the hope of solving them, this is a way to clean our emotional lives. We want to help a faith community of doctrinal constipation, in which the community filled with doctrinal content that changes a healthy digestive system with passivity, inactivity, and lethargy. God tells us of the creation of the whole universe, the creation of the earth and everything on the earth. How he created man, the history of Israel and how he took the people as his own. He tells us everything up to the end of the age. We use theology to help understand God's word, to much of theology is speculation on what God really means in some of his wording. There are somethings God has keep to himself, like when Jesus Christ will return in all of his glory. (Deu 4:2 KJV) Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (Prov 30:5 KJV) Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. (Isa 40:8 KJV) The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. (Mat 4:4 KJV) But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. These are just a few chapters and verses of the Bible that prove the words that God speaks are true as true can
The meaning of theology is simple; it is the study of God and religious belief. The definition is plain to see but it’s important to go beyond what is already known. On a deeper level, what is the meaning of theology in respect to a religious community and to a person trying to find themselves in God? How is everyone involved in doing theology all the time? In this paper, there will be an in depth analysis on what theology is, why it is important, and how people are engaged in theology all the time.
This passage tells us how Jesus healed the paralytic man. The passage starts when Jesus was teaching the people, The Pharisees and teacher of the law were also present at this time. This was the time when The Lord gave Jesus the power to heal people. There was a paralyzed man who was carried around by people on a mat, as he could not walk, and they tried to get Jesus’ attention so that He would heal the man. The people tried and tried but they could not get close to Jesus, so they went up to the roof and lowered the man on the mat into the room in front of Jesus. Immediately Jesus healed the man and forgave his sins. The Pharisees
Practical theology treats the application of theology in the regeneration, sanctification, edification, education and service of men. It seeks to apply to practical, life the things contributed by the other three departments of theology. P.16
In the Word of God exist the eternal truths, the species, the formal principles of things, which are the models of created beings. In the intellectual light imparted to us by the Word of God we know both the eternal truths and the ideas of real beings. God is the beginning and end of enerything.
The one thing that we know about God is that he is perfect and does not lie to us. Jesus implores us in Matthew 5:48 to “Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (ESV). Numbers also tells us in chapter 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it?” Knowing that our God is perfect, his words are also perfect and
In this paper, I am going to share my ideas of theology. I believe that one of the biggest mistakes I made in the past was that I was afraid of being rejected, so I wrote a theology paper and tried to give the previous COM what I thought they wanted to hear instead of what was truly inside of me. Fortunately for me, even though I was not given a green light in order to see the Eccleastical Council, I was licensed to preach and this gave me time
Next, McMinn (2007) acknowledges the Christian Theology perspective on confession. According to the author (2007), there are two kinds of relations to confession and Christian Theology, which are confession and the sacrament of penance and confession and Scripture. McMinn (2007) points out that the Christian church has constantly been engrossed in confession, but the way of confession has altered during the past two millennia (p 221). According to the author (2007), numerous Spiritual leaders, such as Saint Augustine and Saint Patrick writing of their confessions of faith and sin have severed as a partial foundation for scholasticism, which is a crusade that attempted to examine faith academically (211-212). As scholasticism grew thought out time it birth the doctrine and sacrament
Just what is theology? This question can have a wide variety of answers, from irrelevant facts about God thought up by men centuries ago, to complicated theories discussed by scholars. Typically, the average 21st century man does not consider theology as relevant. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. Theology by definition has the characteristics of both expounding the truth, and impacting the believer with that truth (Himes, 2011). Therefore, theology and the church are intricately combined, in that the church embodies the revelation of God, and is reality, not theory (Himes, 2011). A personal practical theology must begin with revelation, not the individual (Himes, 2011), and proclaim
Theology will impact my life in a new way because it will challenge me to dive deeper into the word of God than just scratching the surface. Moreover, it will provide a framework that can be used to reveal God’s presence and revelation in the scriptures, as well as, the many aspects of my life. I did not study theology before, as this class is my first academic opportunity to do so. Actually, I had originally thought of theology as another term used to discuss the Bible and debate interpretations on verse or themes of the Bible. I believed it was based mostly on opinion through personal revelation. This was also a time in my life where I loosely believed that interpretations were founded from personal epiphanies of the reader. Thankfully,
As Christians we often believe certain things simply because it’s what our parents and the people around us believe. We often go about our Christian walk without ever giving thought or reason to why we believe what we do. The world of Christian Theology is a place where Christians can find answer to the ‘what and why’ of Christianity. If we are able to begin comprehending Christian Theology and the rudimental knowledge of it, then we can take it with us into more in depth books and discussions about theology, know the importance of it and how vital it is for Christians
Theology is the study of God, and further the Theology of the Pentateuch is defined as what is the Pentateuch teaching us about God today. The Pentateuch is another name for the Torah, which consists of the first five books of the Biblical canon. Studying the theological vision contained within the Pentateuch is crucial to scholars since it is this vision that shapes the principal form of this work. Further, the foundation for the theology of God is set forth in the rest of the Bible. One can read numerous intricate, complex stories as concern our Creator, however there is not one contradiction in respect to his attributes that can be found. It is owing to the fact that this is a solid
The basic study of Soteriology is to gain an understanding of the studies of the various religious doctrines on the theory of the doctrine of salvation. It has important role in doctrinal studies such as: redemption, justification, sanctification, propitiation and atonement.
Since one of the characteristics of God is that He is unchanging, there are theological truths He provides us in Scripture that transcend time and different cultures. We need to understand these theological principles when considering how to live them out today. We also need to evaluate a principle in a passage of Scripture to the rest of the
Christian Tradition course exposed me to the Christian Tradition based on Biblical and church history. The course taught me the differences and similarities of Christian Tradition from other major world religions. I learned about the significance of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Trinity based on the teachings of the Bible. The course also briefly covered 2,000 years of church history but with emphasis on the impact of the Council of Nicea, Council of Chalcedon, and John and Charles Wesley on Christianity. The professor emphasized the importance of the reformation that sparked a revolution in the church.
To understand where I am now in relation to Catholic theology I feel that it is appropriate to look back on the thoughts and ideas that I had when I first started this THEO 1001 class. Honestly coming into college I have thought about my faith very little and studied the bible and what it means even less. In my mind I have always thought that theology was primarily a group of people just sitting around reading the bible repeatedly and then coming up with ways on how to interpret certain beliefs and messages in it and what they mean to us as Christians. Now I understand that theology has many more aspects to it than just the one example I gave earlier. The fact that this class was just about Catholic theology doesn’t really have a meaning to me because I haven’t studied other religions or denominations theology. Diving deeper into what I thought about how Catholic theology impacted my life will be a very shallow dive, given that I am neither Catholic or a theologian I honestly thought that this class was going to be a history of how Catholics are the greatest Christians and their way of looking at the bible. Thankfully I was very wrong about both those things and have learned about some very interesting topics throughout the class, one being the fascinating section we did about anthropology and what role it plays into theology.
