Trait theory of leadership
Trait theory gives constructive information with regard to leadership and can be applied to all types of people at different levels of the organization (Management Study Guide, 2016).
Trait theory bought out the characteristics which not only determine the factors which should exist within a leader but also consist of preconditions that endow people with leadership potential (Management Study Guide, 2016).
There are a set of core traits which are identified in this theory. These traits include achievement drive which explore the high level of effort, ambition and the positive energy a leader should possess to be a successful leader in the organizational context (Management Study Guide, 2016).

Self-belief within a leader could inspire all the other members in the team to achieve goals which at one stage looked impossible and could ultimately result in CPC achieving breakthrough results (Management Study Guide, 2016).
Cognitive ability is seen as another vital component which would enable a leader to make urgent yet key decisions based on supreme judgement as well as gut feel (Management Study Guide, 2016).
Adequate level of well-rounded knowledge is another key aspect which a leader should possess in order to be successful in the corporate world and is rightly addressed in the trait theory of leadership (Management Study Guide, 2016).
Trait theory also emphasize that a leader need to be emotionally mature and is free from any kind of psychological disorder in decision making as well as in the thought process which would benefit CPC (Management Study Guide, 2016).

With regard to the operations at CPC it is evident there is more of a democratic style with comparatively less amount of rigidity (MindTools, 2016).
On the other hand, democratic leaders consider the inputs of the team prior to decision making and this is often the function performed by team briefing sessions where opinions of staff members from all levels are considered and given emphasis. Though being a state entity the level of input considered from staff would be lesser and there are instances where quick managerial decisions are needed as well as rules and regulations needed to be adhered to (MindTools, 2016).
Ultimately, laissez-fair leadership style is where the team is given the total independence and democracy to make decisions and this could even fail if the leader is easily distracted or lazy. Moreover, this style of leadership may not be useful and applicable to an entity such as CPC which involve certain element of red tape in certain instances (MindTools, 2016).
