Trust is a universal matter that everyone needs to have with someone or something, and can lead to many things such as friendship, love, or other bonds. In the book, The Mark of Athena, the author decides to show trust is important by trusting yourself to know what to do and accept that you need others help. In the book, House Of Hades, the author shows trust is important with having the same group of people learning how to trust others and deny help at times, but also accept help from enemies. One with description and the other with tone. Something in common that they have is showing the way of trust. This can be found many times in the book, such as one in Mark of Athena, when Leo has to get the mirror of Narcissus to complete the quest …show more content…
“Annabeth pressed her lips to Percy’s ear. ‘I love you.’ She wasn’t sure he could hear her- but if they died, she wanted those to be her last words.” (House of Hades, 34) Saying “I love you.” to another person that isn’t your family is not easy because that means that your heart and mind trusts them not to do anything that’ll hurt you or your heart. Kissing someone is in that same category which means that Annabeth truly trusts Percy. Trusting an enemy is a whole different animal, “The giants eyes glittered. ‘It gets boring in Tartarus. You can tell me your story while we eat, eh?’ Annabeth felt uneasy about telling a giant about their plans… She told Damasen about her life and adventures with Percy.” (House of Hades, 306) This shows that even when Annabeth thought that it was a bad idea to tell a Giant(which is the Greek’s biggest enemy) about their plans, but because of the fact that they are in Tartarus, she didn’t have much else to trust. So, trusting her secret within Damasen, that shows she is learning how to trust
World War I (WWI). Words that bring back some horrid memories of an unpleasant time. The War of 1914-1919, fought with tanks, airplanes, trenches, machine guns and more. Fought in forms of Alliances such as the Triple Entente, including France, Russia, and Great Britain. Also the Triple Alliance, which includes, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. Fought in the countries of France, Italy, Russia and Turkey. The Great War, caused by many events such as imperialism and alliances, but militarism out of all was the underlying (main) cause to the start of one of the bloodiest wars.
To me trust is being able to count on someone during good times and during bad times.
The traits between the two characters appear similar in the beginning, but despite this their traits
In this book, trust is defined as “one’s willingness to be vulnerable to another based on the confidence that the other is benevolent, honest, open, reliable, and competent.” (page xiii) The author recognizes that trust is complex and dynamic. She views trust as the “lubricant” that greases the machinery of the organization. Trust is particularly important where parties are interdependent, or the “interests of one party cannot be achieve without reliance upon another.” In schools “teachers and principals are
“The young girl looked at me her eyes colder and brighter than the winter moon. ‘I am artemis,’ she said. ‘Goddess of the Hunt”’(Riordan 28). ”You didn’t believe I was dead” “Never”(Riordan 282).this shows that percy never gave up on annabeth when she fell of the cliff with the manticore on page twenty-six. Percy still believed after everyone stopped believing that she was alive.
The literal similarities are rather obvious, both travel to Egypt, both meet the Alchemist, both have traveled across the world, and both are trying to speak the ‘Language of the World’. In this way you can really see how the two legends parallel. The legends share much more spiritually however.
The element of trust can be interpreted throughout the tragedy of Othello. “I shall but love thee better after death.” (Elizabeth Barrett Browning). Once poisoned in the mind, and overfilled by emotion, Othello had to trust in someone that did not tell the truth. The “Moor” (1.3.223) did not investigate Iago’s accusations, or seek his own proof regarding Desdemona’s betrayal. Ultimately, this cost him not only the guilt of murdering his wife, but his own life, as he killed himself as well. While Othello thought he was doing the right thing by killing Desdemona, he did it due to his love for her. “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). While in the perspective of today’s society, this can be interpreted to putting loved ones first; however, in the culture of Othello this becomes a bit blurry for Othello murdered his wife out of love; the general believed he was protecting her, or preserving her goodness. “Yet she must die, else she’ll betray more men. Put out the light, and then put out the light. If I quench thee, thou flaming minister, I can again thy former light restore… That can thy light resume. When I have pluck’d the rose… Be thus when thou art dead, and I will kill thee, and love thee after.” (5.2.6-19). Battle history, “Honest Iago” (1.3.316), and the overflow of emotions all add up in regards to why Othello trusted Iago, and did not go out and investigate the all the drama and commotion for himself.
“You are to die by lethal injection, but if that fails, we’ll kill you by electrocution. If the power goes out, we’ll hang you. If the rope breaks, we’ll take you out back and shoot you.” Such cruel words were astoundingly said by the judge at Greg Wilhoit’s sentencing. On May 31, 1985, Greg’s wife Kathy was tragically murdered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After one year, Greg was charged with Kathy’s murder because of insufficient evidence provided by two dentists, who claimed that bite marks they found on Kathy’s body matched Greg’s teeth. Although Greg tried all he could to prove his innocence, unfortunately, during the trial, his attorney showed up drunk in court. As a result, Greg was sentenced to death without any DNA evidence. But several
What is trust? The dictionary meaning of trust is a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. The second meaning is, confidence placed in a person by making that person the nominal owner of property to be held or used for the benefit of one or more others. But what can we really define as trust? In this paper, I will discuss how trust is used every day in different situations, how we deal with trust in various relationships, and how we as individuals practice trust within ourselves.
Trust is something that cannot be measured but rather it can be shown by action. In the story of Odysseus, Odysseus has been changing in the course of the story, beginning of the story he didn’t trust his men and as the story progress he started to trust the people around him.
Trust is a valuable asset in which many people rely on everyday. Once trust is broken, it becomes difficult to move forward in life and trust new people.Individuals must be cautious in the ways trust will affect their life. In the novel Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, the main characters often contemplate if there are other people going through the same traumatising moments as they are, and whether they would be considered trustworthy. These characters go through many times of struggle, confusion, and bravery in order to find out whether the path they travel on will lead them to victory, or traps they will regret falling into. Mason’s risky encounter with Twiggy, Aries’ questionable friendship with Daniel, and Clementine’s great trust in her mother are all ways in which involve the difficulty of trust.
Having trust makes one fell safe and free of fear enough so that they can focus on other things.
Othello is a very honorable man with a humble and trusting disposition, despite other character’s varying perceptions of him. When faced with accusations of coercion from Brabantio he remained calm, which is shown through his lack of stuttering and nervous ticks when he spoke. He even admitted to his own faults before the Duke: “Rude am I in my speech, and little blessed with the soft phrase of peace … and little of this great world can I speak more than pertain to feats of broil and battle.” Othello’s ability to admit to his own shortcomings while being accused of drugging his wife revealed his complete trust in both his innocence and the Duke. If he had truly harmed Desdemona he would be wary of revealing any negative aspects of his person.
Trust is a value that was very hard for me to learn. I was always afraid that someone was going to hurt me one way or another. My mother was always telling me that I should learn to trust others so that they could help me from time to time, but I never could do it. Eventually I finally learned to trust others a few years ago. I have realized that other people can do many things for you if you just trust in them. This helps me in the relationships I have with my friends. Trust doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time. I have learned that trusting certain people is worth the risk, and helps the relationships I have with them.
When I hear the word trust I think of friends. You have to have a lot of trust in your friends and they need to be able to trust you. I have a huge amount of trust in my best friend, I tell her everything. There are some people who say that you can trust them, but then it turns out that you can’t and they’ve told everyone your secret. I think that trust is confiding in a person or people that you know if you say, “don’t tell anyone,” they won’t tell anyone. For instance, in Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence kept Romeo and Juliet’s trust by not telling anyone about their marriage. I think that Romeo and Juliet trusted each other enough
