Romeo and Juliet: Who’s to Blame? Romeo and Juliet is about to two young lovers who eventually kill themselves to be together. Who is responsible for the deaths of these two young lovers? While both families and Friar Laurence are partially responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, Fate is mostly to blame. Both the Montagues and the Capulets can be blamed for the deaths of their children. From the quote in the story “from forth the fatal loins of these two foes”(Doc A) shows that they could be blamed because Romeo and Juliet were born into families that were feuding with each other for generations. Also Lady Capulet is pressuring Juliet to marry Paris and the quote that supports this is “Well think of marriage now”(Doc B). Capulet is to blame because he knows that Juliet doesn’t want to marry Paris but he tells her “or never look me in the face” telling Juliet he will disown her (Doc D). The feud between the Capulets and Montagues is clearly linked to Romeo’s and Juliet’s death through language in the Prologue, and the Capulets are particularly to blame for forcing their daughter to marry someone she doesn’t love. …show more content…

Friar Laurence knows it could end up being bad in the end because he says “These violent delights have violent ends” (Doc C). Friar Laurence knows he has to help Juliet get out of marrying Paris because he is the one who married Romeo and Juliet. He figures out his plan, that he will give her a sleeping potion that lasts 48 hours, “I’ll give thee remedy”, how he has to get word to Romeo but it doesn’t (Doc C). Friar Laurence uses Romeo and Juliet to end the feud between the Montagues and Capulets, but his plan backfires, and Romeo and Juliet end up
