There are certain names that when you hear them you instantly recognize them. Some of these people are remembered for admirable and fantastic things like Mother Teresa. Sadly, on the other end of the spectrum, there are people that we remember for the horrible crimes they have committed against humanity. An example of one of these people is Adolf Hitler. He is most well-known for his role in the deaths of millions of people during The Holocaust. One may ask themselves how any one man can rise to and gain the power that Hitler did. As well as what choices he made and what occurred in his life that led to Hitler becoming the tyrant he was during the Holocaust. For many years he wandered around aimlessly and fantasized about his desire to become an artist. In 1907 his mother passed away and he moved to Vienna to go to art school, but he wasn’t accepted. During this time, according to the Encyclopedia of World Biography, “he first became fascinated by the immense potential of mass political manipulation...Hitler first developed the fanatical anti-Semitism and racial mythology that were to remain central to his own "ideology" and that of the Nazi party.” In the beginning, Hitler was quickly singled out as one of the most popular and profound speakers in the Nazi party along with being a very large propagandist. In 1921 the Nazi party had approximately 6,000 members. As a result of the declining economy and with the help of Hitler, the Nazi party grew to about 56,000 members by 1923. From that point on, Hitler started to become recognized more and more as a sizeable political force. Hitler's first attempt at taking over the German government was known as the “Beer Hall Putsch”.
